Voice Commands

Does anyone use this system on a regular basis. When I first got the car I was 'commanding' all the time, but now find it easier just to stick my left index finger out and push a button...call me lazy but arguing for 5 minutes with a female voice to change the cd Rolling Eyes

Is there any real benefit to this that I am just too thick to realise, apart from phone dial (again left index finger, keeping phone below window level Whistle or phone book on radio menu.

Glad its not just me Thumbs Up

Maybe you need to use a Solihull accent to make it work properly, it certainly doesn't understand me, a bit like all those foreign call centres Rolling Eyes .

Laughing Laughing

I used to watch Clarkson try and do voice commands and thought he must have just been playing up for the cameras when it all went wrong.

My halfbreed weegie/edinburgh accent is not the best for voice analysis and recognition.

Although when I tell it to "take a flying Censored " or shout "Ooo fur Censored sake" it acts like a real woman and takes the huff "voice commands cancelled" then goes silent for an hour Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

I've used the voice control about a dozen times in the 3 and a half years I've had mine.. seeing this thread I'm going to use it again tomorrow, most entertaining thing I've found is to attach sweary names/words to the stored 'phone numbers Thumbs Up

I actually use some of the functions quite often - phone dialling, changing cd's or switching between radio and cd, and a couple of nav commands.

I have found that the longer the command, the more difficult it is to keep the recognition going. And I have never learnt all of the menu commands...

I played about with it when I first got the car but the only one I use now is Navigation Home. I still have to say that a couple of times before she gets it.

My dad told me he had to 'calibrate' the voice recog by reading up some sentences. He and my brother have had a lot of fun whilst doing that. I have never found the procedure for this in the manual.

I use mine to go to the correct track numbers on mp3 discs, beats pressing 'next track' button 50 times.
Also, I tell it 'navigation show entire route' as I haven't found a way to do that using touch screen.

regards,

Wiljo
