Trailer power supply
Hi Guys
Wonder if one of you can help me with advice.
I bought a trailer for my disco 3 with 2 batteries in the trailer that need to be charged.
The trailer only have one plug that fit in the black socket at the rear of the car, but this is not charging the batteries, altough the lights are working.
This plug doesn't fit into the white socket.
Which one must be used so that the system functions correctly. Must I change the plug on the trailer to fit the white one, must both be used simultanously or is something else wrong.
The trailer company says LR must sort it out and LR says the trailer company must sort it out and that the white one is for charging.
Can someone maybe direct me to a webside with a drawing on the wiring etc.
Thanks for the help.proper planning prevent poor performance
The black plug 12N is for lights and indicators and the white 12S is for battery charging etc.
Hope this helps.Volvo XC60 - does all that the D4 should have done

Thanks JDHX
Does this mean the cable from the trailer must be split in 2 and that both must be simultanously be used?
Where does the numbering start on the plug.
Thanky you again.proper planning prevent poor performance
Normally you have two separate seven core cables, one for road lighting and the second for the rest and indeed both are connected to the car at the same time. Have you established that the batteries are connected for charging?

Sarel - better idea
Hi there Sarel
I am in Pretoria and fitted a seperate connection to charge my offroad campers batteries...
i don't think the cable thickness etc of the "norma" white plug will be a safe option - what LR SA know about the white plug is scary... - I have electronic brakes in my trailer and they also thought the white is ready as is - NOT ...
Any case I am in Menlo Park give me call or send e-mail (not PM) and you could look at my system
