Still confused by this option Does it mean that you can remotely heat the car up before getting in to the temp you have set on the climate control? Conversely does it mean that on a hot day if the temp is set to very cold, it would cool the car?

It has three functions:
Below -20C it will heat the engine first to aid starting then once the engine is sufficiently warm heat the interior.
Between -20C and +15C it will heat the car interior to +15C
Above +15C it will force ventilate the interior.
This is available via Infotainment screen programming or on button on a remote.
