12v to 6v
I've just received my Chinese cheap Strobe LED's
12v in & I tried getting the voltage out to the strobes as I only really wanted them for the 22 LED white light as a mess about testing LED brightness for my trailer.
The output on one of them is around 6-7v. I wanted ideally to link these up directly to 12v. What 's a quick and easy way to manage the voltage. Is there a way I can wire them so that the 12v is shared equally & therefore only 6ish volts?
Cheers
Oh, they're OK as strobes too, for that price, I can't complain. Not very waterproof though, so I will be applying liberal coatings of silicon at all the joints Bodsys Brake Bible

Tested one directly on 12v and it seemed to work OK. I guess it would just reduce the original life or do you reckoin they would go POP!?Bodsys Brake Bible

Bodsy,
I'd be interested to see how these turn out. Please let us know your findings/impression of them.
If there is another thread you are already covering this on, please let me know.
Cheers,
John

Well I'll wire them up tonight & see how bright they are when it gets dark & let you know. For just short of £8 (inc Postage!) it's a bargain!Bodsys Brake Bible

Well just to update on this, I wired them in Series and it didn't light up all of the LED's on each panel. So I changed it to Parallel (so getting the full 12v) and they worked a treat!
So much so that I've just ordered another two pairs.
OK, so they're not waterproof, but they can be made to be I'm sure.
I used the sticky pads to stick them under the top of the Sankey, but as you can imagine, in the heat, it just falls off after a while.
I have some clear thick plastic tubing that I will fashion into a long 'light' and removing the LED's from their existing case, I plan to make a longer light cluster that should use 3 maybe four of the units.
In terms of brightness, when it's dark, then they managed to light up the tent and the field for a reasonable distance and certainly results on more flexible options for me.
I'm just now left with several LED strobe controling units that I'll never use, so if anybody wants one, just let me know!Bodsys Brake Bible

The control is for Strobe effect only (two different patterns though) they don't have just an 'on' option.

AHHHH. Then I have no need for that. I don't want to have a fit everytime the interior lights come on. So I'll pass on that. Thanks for the prompt reply though. Good luck in passing them on.HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

You might be better off ordering one of these sets & just having them connected directly to 12v? may be cheaper as they're only £7.99 inc postage from China. Took about 15 days to get here ISTR Bodsys Brake Bible
