Access height use question
I use the access height facility almost every time I park my Disco 3. Though it would just be a novelty but I do like it and it proves useful for children and older people getting in and out of the vehicle. Is this likely to be detremental to the lifespan of the suspension/air system or is it designed to be used in this way? Be interesting to find out if others use it as regularly as applying the handbrake or if it's only rarely used.

I use mine quite often, but not every journey. Some would say that the compressor gets a good workout, so is likely to last longer, otehrs will say it wears it more........
If it's a useful feature, then continue using it and if the compressor goes pop, then it's about £200 ISTR for a replacement which coiuld be done yourself or by most garages Bodsys Brake Bible
I use access height all the time. I don't see why it would be that detrimental to the car assuming you are not going from access to normal to off-road height and back again every 5 minutes, every day...The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

its all part of the cars design so i would say its fine (but then so is the EPB ). I use mine in offroad mode as much as in access mode and my compressor is coming up for 3 years old and ha travelled 90K miles. Just keep it cleaned if you use the car off road
its like everything else though. if you use your brakes a lot they will wear out faster.Duncan

So if you use access height in this way, do you just set off driving leaving the car to raise itself or do you faff going back to normal height before you set off?Badda bing.......How you doin'?

depends on where you are. if i'm able to get up to speed quickly i let the car raise the suspension. if i'm driving slowly and especially if in car parks over speed bumps I'll raise it manuallyDuncan

I always drop it to access height as I park so it's easier to get in / out of (and looks nice and 'squat'). I always then just drive off and let it raise itself.

I generally lower the car to access height to make it easier to get in & out but also to reduce the wear on the seat edges, I've seen some pretty badly worn / scuffed leather over the years where people simply "slide" in and out over the edge rather than "lift" into the the seat.Clive

I always drop to access height when parking
Being height challenged and not having side steps any more it makes sense
... which reminds me - has anyone heard from Dwarfy McTripod recently ?
With the Expo rack, I do drop mine going under height restrictors - but tend to park in normal height or sometimes off-road height to minimise the risk of parking dents "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."
