Leaving Battery Disconnected |
|
I am considering leaving my D3 locked away for 3 weeks, however I cannot risk it waking up and powering up any electrics while I am away. Don't ask why but I can't....
If I disconnect the battery earth and leave the bonnet on the "latch", will there be any problems with the D3 "waking up" when it's reconnected after this amount of time with no power??
Will it forget things ------------------------------

I have had mine disconnected for a month and did not have any issues after reconnecting. Just remember to wait a couple of minutes after removing the key for everything to shut down before disconnecting the battery.
Maybe the word should be disco(3)nnecting

Will it goto sleep with the bonnet open? Are there any micro switches for the bonnet? ------------------------------

It will go to sleep with the bonnet open and key removed from the ignition. There is a micro switch for the bonnet open on the left hand side bonnet latch.

Something i've been wondering about, if the battery is disconnected for a length of time, will this reset the memory on the automatic gearbox, in as much as, the way it, the gearbox learns your driving style? ATB
