Squealling EPB

Had a recent issue with the EPB.
When applied it would screach like eck.
Sounding like a slipped belt on a pulley.
Cause seemingly is water ingress - worked Ok when dry
LR Dealer had it in, stripped, cleaned & lubricated it and billed me £111 in total.
Paid bill, but just thought, should this be a warranty issue or just wear & tear?
...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Land Rover have been telling dealers since May/June they will no longer cover this under warranty as it is a "service adjustment item" or words to that effect. The fact it needs adjusting 3 times in 10,000 miles doesn't say a lot about their service intervals/schedules.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

There is a TSB on it.

If its documented and warrants a TSB... I'd say it was then seen by LR as an 'issue' and LR should cover it under warranty if pushed following a dealer charging.

I know Shukers so far have not charged my 2 EPB screeches... mine is in again Monday for an EPB sticking issue that's causing a metal on metal type squealing sound. Apparently one of the brake shoes is in contact inside the mechanism somewhere. Stops for a while after EPB actuation and a quick straining against the EPB in first and then reverse.

I DONT expect to pay as its a fault. LRA chap who tended my D3 in France said it was covered under warranty and so were EPB cable screeches.

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Will phone around next time & get a price for pads. The tech thinks the front pads & discs were changed at the last service under warranty, at least I didn't have to pay for them.

My dealer told me that as they were doing the EPB anyway and had to strip down the brake assembly they were only charging me for the pads (which they knocked 20% off as well) Very Happy
