Flappy Back! Rip off or fix?

Hi

I have a floppy back bit underneath! Shocked Shocked Shocked

Its just behind the rear wishbones, its a plastic 'baffle' like plate. Connected in the middle and each side.

Circled below:

You can see the broken mounting brackets below:

Question is, to take it all off or repair / new. Does it do anything like stop spray or an aerodynamic aid?

Thanks in advance.

Neil

looks to me like it might be keeping crap away from the spare, maybe heat from the exhaust?

you also need one of rays special plates for that wheel, stop it getting nicked...

It's a heat shield between the exhaust and the spare tyre ...you should be able to get it replaced under warranty Wink

I wouldn't bother until you have a full sized spare or you'll just do it again fairly rapidly. Not that it will stop it getting damaged but less easily.

It does seem to 'rock' each way from the centre, which considering where the car goes, might infact be an 'additional feature'. Laughing

I'll keep checking its not getting looser and still there!. Mr. Green

Cheers, Neil

Doesn't that mean the spare tyre will suffer from excess heat via exhaust? Shocked

I also think taking it off wouldn't be good for the spare tyre.

Mine is a bit shorter by now but most is still there. I would replace it if it gets loose.

Been Laning all weekend so just crawled under a very muddy D3!

Brushed as much mud of the spare (full size) as I could and it all looks Thumbs Up no sign of heat damage. There is quite a gap between tyre & exhaust.

Mine has been off for about 2 months.
