I found this nice Stanley toolbox in Tesco. It fits very neatly into one side of the third-row footwell when the seats are down, and also on the second-row floor in underneath a front seat.
Trouble is, it comes as part of a set for £15, and I really don't need any more of the larger size box.

I bought a cheapo (5 euro) toolbox about the same size a couple of years ago and keep a set of tools in it - as you said it fits nicely in the 3rd row footwell (I have a sleeping bag in the other side).
