Harman Kardon Amplifier wiring diagram |
|
The amp in my D3 blew a few months ago and I replaced it with one from a Range Rover. It is the same size, shape and has the same connections. However, the new amp does not send any signal to the subwoofer. Does anyone know which connections from the standard HK amp send the subwoofer signal? I am missing my bass...
PS: it is the HK amp as fitted to the "S", not the Logic7 amp. No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!

Hiya Nobbyclark
The Harmon Kardon amp used in the Disco 3, RRS, Full Fat RR and the Freelander 2 all look identical and have the same connectors etc, however the internals are often different, they have parts fitted in some but not others and they also have some software configuration differences. The number of channels and their uses (ie frequency range filtering) as well as the supported number of speakers also differs.
So sadly i do not believe it will be easy if possible at all to cross one over from a Range Rover and use it in a D3
That being said, there is no harm in trying. what you need to do is obtain the wiring diagram for the speakers of the donar vehicle, you will need to know how many speakers it had and of what type, then for the D3 wiring you have. it may then just be a case of moving the pins in the plug body.
If you can give me the part number of the new amp you are trying to fit, i will try to help you.

Heya nobbyclark
Good news
I been doing some checking for you, seems that quite a few amps are also used in the Full Fat Range Rover despite their having different speaker set ups.
With luck therefore we may be able to get it to go as is, or it might just need programming.
I have all the wiring and pin outs for the D3 amp set ups as i have been updating my own D3, i will get the wiring for the Rangie and compare it to see if i can figure out why you have no bass.
And i will await the PN on Friday

Many thanks for that: it just proves the adage "be careful what you ask for...". So it looks like there are 4 wires going from the amp to the sub speakers. How do I marry up the PDF picture on P11 to my physical connections?
I will also take a picture of the connectors on Friday and post the pic. No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!
