Download the screensaver to your mobile phone and just sit there watching it go round and round and round - that'll while away the hours I stuck my plate on retention to avoid the bl**dy Blair Introduced stupid delay around plate transfersSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Just setting off for my first longer drive, up to Munich and back, in the new snow and the Saturday traffic jams
Enjoy your car!

First Impressions
We collected our HSE this morning and it has been superb driving it around knowing that its ours. I now know what people keep saying about the 'grin', it really is true. The amount of looks that we have been getting confirm that it certainly stands out from the crowd.
Its super quiet and smooth and of course elegant, better than we had imagined seeing as we only had a relatively short test drive from our dealer.
Once we got it home, i went over it with a fine tooth comb and found 2 things that need attention.None of which detract in any way from the car itself.
The first was a 3inch grove across the offside headlight which is about 10mm wide.
The second is the centre sunroof blind that will not stay closed however much we push and pull it.
The dealer will order a new headlight on Monday and also attend to the other matter. I wouldnt normally bother about the Headlight problem but because its a new expensive car then i feel compelled to.
Ive also dated most of the components as i was afraid that it would be an older car seeing as we changed dealers at the last minute, but im not dissapointed as it seems to have left the factory at the end of January, so its quite a recent car.
Now all that remains is to plough through the instruction manuals which i will do tonight with a cup of cocoa.
All in all we are very very happy and in fact im smiling as i type this little ditty......im now tempted to go and take it for a drive again but i will content myself with a quick look out of the window for now.
To everyone who is still waiting for delivery, you wont be dissapointed and it is certainly worth the wait.

The sunroof blind thing is easy for the dealer to cure. They have a new 'former' (Service Bulletin) that did the trick for me in next-to-no-time. It's perfect now.
Headlights are a 30 second job (including the 10 secs to remove the front grill) on a D3. I am surprised the dealer didn't whip one off another car there and then.

The trip to Munich went off without any real problems - well, only one worry. There wasn't any new snow but the traffic jams were there, so progress was slow, at least till just before Munich when the jams suddenly evaporated.
The return journey this evening was smoother, with some snow at the start which deteriorated into sleet and rain. I drove at a steady 2000 rpm, which was around 120 km/hr (75 mph) on the flat. Car very smooth, music very enjoyable. Automatic windscreen wipers mostly impressive but occasionally didn't react to rain.
My one worry at present is about the fuel consumption. The fuel guage read above full when I started out; now it is down almost at half way. If I only manage two return trips to Munich on a tank of fuel that would be pretty painful. With my VW Caravelle I could do four return trips. The VW tank may be slightly larger and today I drove to the airport, which is rather further than my usual circuit. So there are no scientific data yet, just a rather uncomfortable feeling. If the fuel consumption is too high, I hope that might be due to the engine still being stiff. I have done just over 300 kms so far.
In summary, though, the driving was a dream!
