Site is logging me off a lot lately |
|
I was about to PM Martin about this, but thought it was better to post here....
For the last few days, the site has been logging me off a lot......it used to log me off every few months before (for example when I cleared out all cookies etc), but for the past few days I need to log-in again at least 5-10 times a day.
Another thing that happens is that when I log-in, the page just asks me to log-in again without giving error messages.
I'm using Chrome and have not installed anything else lately - the last Chrome update was a week or two ago and all other sites work as before...
Has anyone else noticed this?
Cheers,

I regularly get logged out, once a day minimum. I also get gaps in the post histories, so the New Posts button only gives me around half of what I've not read. I now keep Last12H and Last24H short cuts on my tool bar

It will be cookie related.
It may be something to do with the "fix" I applied for this, although it shouldn't :

All I can suggest is that you clear cookies according to:
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic1790.html
If that doesn't work then I will need to change your password to something else and get you logged on - you will be able to change it back later.

Thanks Martin.
I've also noticed that some of the posts I've read still show up as unread in the new posts page a few minutes later.
I guess the post tracking is carried out by local cookies as opposed to the site DB?
I'm going to delete all disco3.co.uk cookies and see if that helps.

Which domain name are you using to access the site Paul?
Post tracking is a combination of DB and cookies, and it's notoriously poor. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I always use disco3.co.uk (faithful to the cause)...
I can confirm that the problem wasn't related to having read some new messages on the other domains - I always check the link (in the e-mail notification) before I click on it.
I've cleared out all disco3.co.uk cookies, leaving the disco4.com, lr3/4owners and disco3gallery_data cookies intact to see if they affect anything.
At the moment it's ok, but I'll keep you updated....Thanks for looking into this 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue
