went to see cypress hill last night at watergate, they were actually very good,
no idea why people think it's fun to throw bottles forward through the crowd though...
Our kids thought that they were rubbish and other than Calvin Harris, it was a pretty poor line-up this year. They also didn't go much on the beer an p*$$ throwing. The Newquay yobbery has even crept into the surf festivals now.

your kids must be too young to remember then, the 5000 or so others would also disagree with you, they are a good live act.. and they still got the whole place jumping.... and seeing 5000 shouting "f k the pigs" while smoking the biggest dooby on the planet gets my vote..esp when the old bill were 30 feet away
the line up was poor otherwise though those furry animals were'nt so super..
it's NOT newquay yobbery mollers, it's the people from OUTSIDE newquay causing the problem NOT newquay.. let up a little will ya... one wife.......livid

Is that not stating the absolute obvious? Do you think that locals cause any of the problems?
I don't get it with you guys blindly sticking-up for Newquay. The place is a disgrace to Cornwall. The streets at night are practically a no-go zone for families and younger children. The backlash has only started to gain momentum, but will continue.
It might be your idea of a holiday resort, but it's not mine or most other locals other than those profiting from the place.

Mollars,
Didnt we all agree that Newquay was/is a nice place and that the issues are with local buisnessmen and invaders?.

yes, but it still seems to drift over your head, and no not really, the bars are not actually owned by locals., they're owned by out of towners, the council is about as corrupt as any other but there is one very simple reason that they let it all go through, and last week was the perfect example.
CORNWALL NEEDS THE MONEY!!!!!
last week is officially the busiest week in cornwall, with 10's of 1000's of visitors flocking to newquay, yes newquay, NOT pen ing ryn... to see what is a very well organised surf event that now encompasses a music festival, a skate comp as well as many other activities,
there were plenty of families on the beach, in fact you could not move on fistral for families so don't say that families dont come here any more becuase they do,
the amount of money this generates for cornwall is staggering the amount of money generated by newquay in one summer probably goes some way to keep alot of people in work and also pay for new roads like the dual carraigeway extensions etc etc. do you really think one of the poorest county's in the country could afford to do all these improvments on it's own???
1 more point, I live very near to a campsite that has 650 pitches with power and then another 3 fields without, at present it is FULL to the brim, there is not a space left with a hook-up on the site, there are a few spaces if you don't need power,
I walk around the campsite twice a day with the dog, is it groups of alcohol fueled teens on holiday that i see??? NO IT'S NOT, it's families, lots of them, this morning i made a note of the amount of groups of youngsters and there was PNE tent with 4 18-20 year olds and that was it,
So mollers, don't go preaching that newquay is a disgrace to the county and that no families are coming here because newuay may just be the saviour of cornwall and we've got plenty of families coming here.
Maybe better if you stay away though........
and neil, yes the march did go ahead, we were there. we are claiming back our town from the council. of course the mayor would rather stick his head in the sand...one wife.......livid
You mix and add to what I've actually said and contradict yourself. I know many of the owners of bars and clubs in Newquay, many are local . As you are so hopelessly ill-informed, it's not worth getting into an argument. You confuse what's good about the surf scene with what's bad about Newquay.
Also, you appear to be under the illusion that Newquay represents the whole of the Cornish tourist industry and somehow financially underpins the whole county. You need to get in that D3 and get out more.
FYI, I originate from Penryn, I no longer live there.

am not suggesting newquay underpins the whole of cornwall, BUT it brings in a substantial amount of money into the county,
last week was officially the busiest week in the county, WHY, the boardmasters is why...
the council don't care who comes, they just want money.... it's a well know documented fact..one wife.......livid

Of course, and if the 'issues' (which you either appear to support or turn a blind- eye to, I'm not sure which.) were addressed. Newquay could become a greater asset to the financial health of the County. Yobs buy booze, stay in cheap accomm and require expensive policing. Families spend with diversity.

mollers, i'm not supporting OR turning a blind eye to anything, I'm on of the few standing up and shouting to get the town cleaned up.
I've been making a point of clarifying that it is NOt newquay on the whole that is causing the problem, It is the people that come to newquay, the council for letting giving out the licences, and a few people who are making a good amount of money out of the town..
I'd much rather see it as a family destination. think you may have misunderstood me...one wife.......livid
