OMG the AA have no idea
Drove home from Manchester Airport today 7 up with luggage on rack. (been to Turkey )
Anyway close to home I noticed that the Red Pearl was handling a bit strange a bit like a soft tyre. Pulled over to find all tyres were ok so we jacked the car and checked the wheel bearings, both rear wheel bearings had lots of play in them As we werent far from home we continued slowly and arrived safe.
I called LRA who arranged a swift recovery
The AA arrived and the driver proceeded to prepare the car to be winched on to the deck of the recovery lorry. At this point I became very alarmed as I was wondering what he was doing with a 2ft long wire strap and the NS lower wishbone At this point I suggested that it would be easier to use the MASSIVE RECOVERY EYE at the centre front of the car and not the suspension components
Once the car had been properly winched onto the bed the driver spent 5 minutes pressing the EPB button down to engage the brake FFS.
Not having a go at this chap as hes clearly not been briefed on the workings of this type of car.
I ask this question
What would happen to the suspension geometry should a loaded D3 be winched onto the bed of a recovery truck using one lower wishbone In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Doesn't sound like the best idea. I'd have thought compared with the force the wishbone and bushes take when you brake hard, or hit a rock offroad, it wouldn't do it any harm, but using the towing eye does make sense.
Can understand a mechanic having no experience of the D3 if you'd just called the AA, but I thought the idea of LRA was that you got someone who knew their way around the vehicle.
Last experience I had of the AA was that the chap knew the car very well, but it was a Renault Megane

On a similar subject drove past a local tyre dealer and they had a D3 jacked up with the rear diff

Why do they do that
Winching from the suspension seem a daft thing to do on any car IMO

My Mitsubishi Evo was dragged on to a lowloader by the wishbone as the towing point/ angle of the lorry would have ripped the front bumper off.
There was no noticeable change in the handling of the vehicle (and with the cornering speeds that car had, it would have been noticeable) so I shouldn't worry about it on something as beefy as the D3!2014 D4 XS

Thats the issue is the D3 that beefy the geometry gets thrown out very easy The thing is the only time you would know there was a problem would be when you noticed that your tyre tread had worn 'off' unevenly. You would then be faced with a new tyres and wheel alignment bill through no fault of your own.
What got me was the winch cable had a hook on that fits easily onto the front (or Rear) recovery eye. So why bother fooking about a a hard wire strop trying to thread it through the wishbone In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
