Surround Camera no longer an option |
|
I have been advised that any new order will not be able to have the surround cameras as an option.
Apparently this affects D4, RRS & FFRR
The option is not available to dealers. It seems that the company that supply the camera set up to LR cannot supply enough. It is suggested that the surround cameras will be reintroduced as an option end QTR1 2010

There were certainly delays on delivery of D4s if you insisted that this was an option you wanted, as all the available cameras were going onto FFRRs. Obviously a popular option!
Still, this is just one of a number of logistical issues that LR appear to be having getting these new vehicles out of the factory and onto the road. It simply beggars belief that, when they have had months of reduced production, they cannot get themselved organised.
What it tells you is that anyone of owns, has owned, buys or is planning to buy a LR vehicle is plainly completely mad!

I've not had any info suggesting Q1 2010 for the surround camera's. The note in the last order call for D4, RRS and RR was as follows:
In this order call period you will not be able to order the option of surround camera 086GC due to supplier constraint issues.
I would hope that it applies to this order call only and will be available for late November. I'll post more information as it comes through. In the meantime I have two cars available for September with the surround camera system if anyone specifically wants it.
Due next 7 days:
XS in Santorini Black with Ebony Leather and Grand Black Wood with the Surround Camera System.
Due before the end of the month:
HSE in Santorini Black with Almond Leather and Grand Black Wood, with the Surround Camera System, 20" Alloy Wheels, Privacy Glass, Adaptive Xenons, Rear Seat Entertainment (DVD) and Hybrid TV.

What's a call period??
Does it therefore mean someone wanting surround cameras on their D4 would have to wait until November before ordering it ??
I have placed an order (disrupted because of this):-
HSE stornaway, almond & nutmeg
Surround Camera
TPMS
Rear Entertainment
Console Fridge
Hybrid TV
Park heater
B pillar privacy
I don't really want it without the cameras. Wot's that in Old Money

with everything on back order there may not be much to see I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

If you have already ordered a vehicle with a dealer and they in turn have placed the order with the factory then you should be fine. If the order is not yet in the system then unfortunately it will be a case of waiting until SCS is available again. You can of course place an order with your dealer in the meantime so that you are at the front of the queue for when LR lift the restriction. The other alternative is to ask your dealer to source a physical vehicle, however that may require a compromise on the rest of the spec depending on what's available in the network.
Quick explanation of Allocation Period........ We recieve an allocation of vehicles approximately once a month for a particular 'call period' which refers to the expected build date of those vehicles. The current call period is late Oct / early Nov. Depending on the volume of the dealer and historical profile of cars sold, will affect how many of each nameplate can be ordered. This means customer orders for factory orders will be loaded into the dealerships 'order pool' so that when the 'allocation period' opens the orders will be taken up by the factory (in order of when they were loaded into the pool) providing that dealer has sufficent allocation for that model (I.e D4 or RRS etc)

Thanks for the explanation James.
I ordered the car last Weds. The dealer tried to load it today I presume hence the problem.
I don't really want to compromise too much on the spec. otherwise I'll get a vehicle i don't really want. I change my car every 8 - 12 months so but still a car without something I wanted on it would drive me nuts !!! Wot's that in Old Money

No, that looks like an internal global bulletin. The info I received was a one sentence advising that the option sis not available currently to order.

Thanks James,
so the world is non the wiser !!
Pity LR can't accept the SCS orders now. If they can't ship them when the car is built they could send a retrofit pack to the dealer.
As long as the VIN is recorded as having ordered the SCS then LR can sent the appropriate code to the dealer to enable the system.

Surround camera system on back order. |
|
When i collected my new D4 Saturday the stealer (Caffyns) showed me a bulletin from LR stating the surround camera system will not be available for the foreseeable future on all new order Apparently they have a major supply issue!
I am soooo pleased I took a stock vehicle I am also pleased that mine has the rear modules for the ICE D4 3.0 HSE cameras,Hybrid TV, 20" alloys, heated wheel, privacy, Tow pack.
Departed RRS TDV8 HSE Full Arden kit in TEAL and colour coded everything.
Departed Disco 3 2.7 HSE

Is it any wonder that JLR is so far up the creek.............the surround camera system has been billed as one of the great aspects of the D4. It is just good fortune that the base vehicles are what they are. If it was down to the addons, you'd have to say that these bunch couldn't organise a up and brewery.
