Early oil change, any point?

I've just completed a 1000 miles and was wondering if there is any benefit in getting the oil changed now or maybe in another 500 miles or so?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I got mine done along with the filter at 7500 miles (half way to first service), noticably smoother running afterwards

I've got 9k+ miles on mine, noticed that the oil pressure light takes longer than I feel comfortable with to extinguish so it's off for an oil & filter change next week, can't see the point in getting it dome prior to 5 - 7k though..... unless you're having oil analysis done 8)

Okay, so I'll wait untill a few more thousand miles have passed.

Out of interest, how much does your dealer charge? Is it easy to do yourself? Is the filter easy to get to?

Mine (Hunters Derby) quoted £132 inc VAT - but they have to f@rt around with the undershield so it's worth it to me, realistically, i'd expect sub - £100 although you have to specify the LR oil, not the 'branded' stuff they use as a default - even though it's the same stuff Rolling Eyes

Thanks all.

How much oil is required for an oil change?

Is this easy enough to do yourself, or is there some electronics that needs to be 'told' that the oil has been changed.

Should be easy enough, the filter is accessed from above and the drain plug is behind the undershield which is held on by six bolts - this is the factory standard undershield, not the G4 one. I think the quantity of oil is 4.5 litres, could be wrong.... Wink

When I picked up my TDV6 HSE from Heathwood or Heathrow Land Rover, whatever they are are calling themselves now, I was given a voucher for a free oil and filter change within 3 months of purchase. Has no-one else received this?

Given my wife is heavily pregnant, we haven't been using the car too much yet, so might go in for a change with about 1500 miles on the clock!!
