I was on my own-with my wife on camera of course-Its a byway shown clearly on the OS Map for Kettlewell and is about 5 miles north of that-its clearly signed with details of legal usage etc-it goes on for about 5 miles and you can do a loop back down to Kettlewell

What's wrong with green laning on your own I've done it all my life, if you get stuck and can't recover yourself, put the kettle on and have a brew, walk to the nearest farm and bribe a farmer to pull you out. Obviously common sense has to be relied upon, if you're disabled or it's the middle of Winter. I say get out there and enjoy yourself take some suitable clothing and footwear and if the worst comes to the worst, walk back to civilisation, it's unlikely that you will be attacked by Lions, run out of water or get lost in the massive barreness of the Great British wilderness. If you do manage to get lost then tough, the Darwin awards beckon. Too much elf and safety nowadays, imaging telling the game keepers and upland shepherds that there not allowed out by themselves. Go out there enjoy yourself using a modicum of common sense, before the do gooders completely close off what little wilderness we have left.

Sam wouldn't go in the car over the rocks unless I let her out to walk !!
I fancy a try on another road and will try the Hawes road... But only when I manage to save enough up for a sump guard because there were a few scraping noises during filming ??!!

I would be to worried about the underbody protection. These are the only plate that are under my G4 D3.
The first one is the standaard steel plate below the gearbox.

And this is the front plate also available from RLD.

The rest off the D3 is mainly strong steel so as long as you do carefull you get scratches on the bottom but no real damage.
On my G4 you can see it has been driven/pulled over some hard objects and the exhaust is a little deformed just before the 'rear drive assembly' (I would call it rear axle but I am not allowed anymore I believe )
So on rocks go slowly and it will be OK. The door sills and the rearbumper are the most funerable parts I think.Roel

Graham - We need to swap notes on green roads, I know some near you that don't require under body protection.

It sounds to me that we should organise a Lancs/North Yorks meet for a bit of friendly Greenlaning ??
