reversing (not surround) camera info please |
|
Looking at the D4, dealers not being overly helpful, can anyone tell me if you can actually see the tow ball on the screen when reversing?
Don't want to pay a grand for tow assist, just want to see the ball when hooking up to a trailer. Is that too much to ask?

At a recent visit to LR Solihull we were shown the camera system on the D4
This might help you with the system

Thanks, but seen that before and still not sure if, with the stand alone reversing camera, you can actaully see the tow hitch when reversing up to a trailer.
Anyone out there used theirs yet?

Mine has surround cameras and I have a button for trailer view. I would imagine that the rear camera is the same on all of them. I can see the tow ball. You can also tell the car what sort of trailer you are towing and it calculates the braking for you. Not sure how far you are from Wales but if you'd like to come and have a look you're more than welcome. Same goes for everyone on here.

Thanks for the advice and the offer Slots. I've not got my teeth proper into the dealer yet about the cameras. I'm not too bothered about surround but they tell me (no evidence yet) that the camera angle is different on the simple reversing camera and their demo and all supplied so far have the surround system on or no cameras at all
Will pursue it, cash burning a hole but want to be sure what I'm getting.

Something about supply problems

Just signed up. Took delivery of a D4 HSE a couple of weeks ago, but then had to travel overseas for work so only had a day to play around with it.
I found the brochure and options list a tad confusing when it came to Tow Assist and cameras. Salesman no use at all, I knew a lot more about his product than he did!!
The HSE has the rear view camera as standard, I did not order the surround system. Assumed that having rear view camera meant you also got Tow Assist and Tow Hitch Assist. This does not seem to be the case, can anyone confirm this?
Cheers,
Matt

Put my tow ball on today to try out my bike rack. I have a detachable towball and just the reversing camera as standard on the HSE, not surround cameras. And yes you can just see it on the screen, so probably enough to hitch up to a trailer without going to all the expense. Hope this helps !!!

Thanks, that is the most help yet. All I wanted - and it didn't seem much at the time - was for someone to tell me that you can see the tow bar in the reversing camera. Looks like I can get my chequebook out now

juliemc9,
Is it a really good quality image with the reversing camera or a bit of a gimick? I would also want this option for reversing up to trailers but only if its worth the extra ££.
Thank you.
