I might be having a blonde moment here. But looking at the fitting instr for the rack it goes on about removing trim and cutting it to fit around the mounts. Now I'm assuming I have to remove my roofrails to fit the rack? Anyone confirm/deny this? HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

I wonder is that the soft tim above the drivers position - two strips of that running from the windscreen back to the start of the roof rails. For the expo rack you have to put a hole in both of them to attached the legs of the front of the rack? A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

I did think of that but as roof rails aren't standard on every car I assumed (bad practice I know) that the rails would have to be removed. Here's hoping not.
Just need the rack to arrive now. RRT has just arrived so I'm itching to get it fitted now. Like a kid at xmas HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

Ah Mark you went for the Patriot in the end!
You'll be pleased to know the Expo rack is still in the garage Although I am toying with the idea of getting one of the GNVP ladders to accessorise it. I've still not sorted the front mounts out yet, but I give that a go at somepoint. D3 HSE MY05 Auto

I had a Patriot rack fitted by Trek Overland - the entire roof rails needed to be removed as the rack bolts down into the chassis. I've yet to get the holes cut in the rails so that they can be re-fitted.
Only just joined the forum but will post some pics as soon as I've worked out how to.

If I understand it correctly then I can remove the rails to get it fitted straight away and then drill holes in the rails and fit them back under the rack?? HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

Had this info from the horses mouth now. The rails must be removed to fit the rack. So now I'll have to find a corner of the garage to store them now HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE
