Underbody protection/Sump Guards |
|
Hi All,
Been considering the Landrover underbody protection on my D3 for a while, and when viewing the galleries on the forum I've noticed a few different types. Can anyone recommend what's best? The car is totally standard and only does the occasional bit of green laning and forrest trails - I've just caught the underneath once or twice and seems it might be time for the investment. I see the Landrover part accomodates a winch but I won't be fitting one, so that isn't a requirement. Your advice is much appreciated!!
Cheers,
Rich.

Won't say which is best as they all do the same thing, but the options from the forum are:-
Mantec underbody protection. £260ish Get these usually second hand on here from time to time.
GNVP Site sponsor make them for IIRC £200, click on their banner link (or contact NeilD or bigcarpchaser
RLD makes these as well (RLD is forum name), not sure of price
They will all do exactly the same thing and all mount to the car in the same way.
Me, I have a Mantec, but that was because it was the only one around in the early days and a great group buy was done at the time.
Personally I wouldn't have a problem with any of them. If you damage any of them severely, then you've been doing some pretty heavy duty stuff. Mines had some tremendous whacks underneath and all bar a few scrapes seems to be fine.
For somethign different, I have mine powdercoated black to match the rest of the car 8) Bodsys Brake Bible

Rich,
You have four options really from different suppliers. I am sure there are more TBH
OEM Mantec from LR dealers
RLD (Site member)
GNVP - us! (Site member) - Photo's in my GN Vehicle Protection gallery
Rasta - Expensive option which is cast ally
Each is different but will all the same job. In terms of toughness there has been greatly debated recently and there are many opinions. Our guards are 8mm and made from 5083 grade (Marine spec) Alli and we have them in stock. I'd say 'Go Compare the Meerkat'.
My advice is to get one ASAP if going off road. Good luck with your search who ever you end up with My Youtube Channel http://www.youtube.com/user/NeilDisco#p/u/5/Dz4-Q95GQ2c

Neil,
I'm also interested but was hampered by the lack of product info. If emailing them out to Rich please could you email me too, please. I'd also need to know the price. Thanks. PAGODA
