Stornoway in Stornoway

Just back from a long old trip with work. Life support machines are a bit too heavy for carry on luggage on the plane, so had the chance to take the car to it's "colour" home . . . .

One hell of a lighthouse !!

End of the road . . . .

Sat Nav seemed to have a mind of it's own on the way home Whistle

Seemed like a good place for a brew on the way home.

I'd heard that the good folk of stornoway had complained about a colour being named after them..

zermatt in zermatt is impossible I believe - all petrol/diesel vehicles are banned Shocked

wikipedia unfortunately wrote:
To prevent air pollution which could obscure the town's view of the Matterhorn, the entire town is a combustion-engine car-free zone. Electric vehicles are allowed for local commerces.

All taken on a little Canon Ixus - packed in a hurry and had to leave the Nikon kit behind Rolling Eyes

Great photos! Wanted Stornoway Grey when we bought our D3 last year - would have made the same trip this summer but ended up buying Tonga Green. Would be a heck of a ferry trip down there Sad

yep, the most photographed castle in Scotland and featured a lot in the first highlander film. I have some b&w photos taken during the filming on the wall in my office.

I will also be photographing it myself in the flesh in a couple of weeks time.

It is a great castle and only recently rebuild (well about 100 yrs ago).

I have photographed it in all conditions including it being covered in snow and late at nigh when it has
been floodlit.

Was selling a print of it on my website for a while, it was very popular with the Americans as most of the prints went to the states.
