Soap box time! Just called in to main dealer to get a simple problem checked. My 05 Discovery had the recall Q045 done to rectify the electrical gremlins by the previous owner last December. It's now showing all the symptoms of being faulty, ie remote stereo controls have a mind of their own, cruise sometimes works, airbag light sometimes on. Now the best bit, & I quote:-
"Warranty work isn't covered by warranty." My response was that it wasn't warranty work but a safety issue recall, therefore it must be covered under warranty.
"We'll charge you £44.50 plus vat to plug in to the diagnostics, if it is faulty we'll take it up with Land Rover but doubt if they'll pay."
I have owned in excess of 50 cars of which this is my 11th Land Rover product & I now remember why I won't set foot in a poncy showroom to be treated so badly at such ridiculous rates. The coffee's not even that good!
How difficult would it have been just to check whether it was the actual old fault back again.
Any comments or previous experiences please. Thanks Dave

name and shame then change dealer - competition is tough at the moment - dont give them a second chance if you have no loyalty / confidence in them Duncan

Go nowhere near Strats in Newport my friend they ballsed up a recall job on my D3 which has now cost me big time............ add to that was sent away after being told there was nothing wrong with my D3 which has turned into £2,500 of really wrong with my D3 which was diagnosed in 24 hours of MJ Fews taking the vehicle in thus confirming all I had raised as issues previously

Are you talking about the same Newport (Pagnall) I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

I've got some faulty pixels on my stereo, that these idiots wouldn't even get up from behind the service desk to walk out on the car park to look at. Had to book it in to get to looked at. Made them come and collect the car so it didnt inconvienience me.
They wouldnt know customer service if it bit them on the nose - too hung up in process (as are most dealers, although a lot of it is driven by LR themselves)
