Just been speaking to a colleague who has been told by his local dealer that an order submitted late September is not now scheduled for build until early-February! I thought it may have been the surround camera issue, but apparently they were not spec'd for the car anyway.
I'd understood lead-in times were approx 12 weeks; does this sound as if the dealer is taking the ****?

They can't cope with demand at the moment so an order placed today would turn up in Feb. However an order placed at the end of Sept would be arriving in Dec. Maybe they've given his build slot to someone else or swapped it to a big corporate client?

My thinking exactly, but I don't want to stir things up by suggesting that unless a few other members know the order -to- build date relationship for their cars

Mine was ordered on 12 September and I have just been informed that it went to build today. Just a couple of extras from the basic XS. Delivery estimate is 24/25 November. So about 75 days or so.

There is a lot to do with dealer allocation and queues here - which can make the difference of a couple of weeks here or there. However, factory orders do seem to be consistently in the 12'ish week bracket, and will probably stay that way.
Interesting to note how the change in situation has meant that a 12 week estimate a few year back would have ended up being 50% too liberal, whereas a combination of lower production and strong demand now means that it is life. I suspect that LR has adjusted their build process too, and is essentially only building cars that it knows are sold....

If other dealerships are anywhere near as busy as the one I use, the lead times will extend (unless LR gear the factory up a notch.) Salesmen are inundated at present. Is that the VAT effect? Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
