I have had this fault appear a couple of time, car sticks in D. Once shut down. Restart button does not work first time but resets the system. Second push on the start button, fault clears. It has happened three times now LR dealer tells me the fault system does not show any problem with the gearbox. It is beginning to be a bit frustrating now. I am intersted to know if anyone else has experienced the same problem. 12 MY 6500 miles. Brand Loyalty Is An Expensive Business

This vehicle must be under warranty still
If it is why worry ?
If it fails then LR pick up the bill of fixing it. End of problem
I havent got a problem with warranties As I use them to the fullest extent in that that they support the product & after all I have proabably paid for it in the cost of the car / goods. BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

First time it happened I was actually passing the dealer within an hour and dropped in. They plugged it in and told me the fault had been logged in the computer but they were satisfied there was nothing wrong with the gearbox itself only a computer clitch. However this is the third time it has happened and I of course want the problem resolved just in case there is a problem with the box.
Warranty is fine but when you are stuck at the side of the road in howling wind and rain calling LR assistance who then send out a local blacksmith to try to solve a problem which inevitably results in a lift to the nearest LR workshop, it is damn annoying. Then you have half a day to get a replacement car then another two days till you get your car back it is just the icing on the cake when you have parted with your hard earned cash for such a great car only a few months earlier...it should not happen !
The point of the post was not to get on a rant but I am interested to know if anyone else has had the same warning problem or if this is an isolated incident. Brand Loyalty Is An Expensive Business

Russell,
BBS Spy stated here:
Quote:With the current firmware on the FCR you will be able to read and clear faults from all the systems except those infotainment ones on the Most Bus.
So Flack would be able to help him reading the fault codes.

I'm sure I read somewhere maybe PH's about a guy with the same problem but with a RRS with the new 8speed rotary shift box. He had it all documented and even shows clips on YouTube of his trouble and what happened,
Think he managed to get LR to sort it somehow, but just can't remember what exactly the circumstances where, but I certainly remember reading/seeing it, might be worth a search ?
Here ya go ........

Update from LR assistance |
|
Quick update. Called LR assist on Sunday but they told me they had no LR/AA technicians in the area and the only thing they could do was to send out the local service station to look at the car, they told me the name of the garage and I knew for sure they would not have a clue about the vehicle. I was correct not a scooby ! So I needed my car Monday but they advised there was no chance to resolve the situation before one of their LR/AA technicians looked at the car. So finally Wednesday they turned up and plugged in their computer to the car, bingo....it could not read the 12MY system....unbelievable indeed. So as the car is Driveable ( even though there is an amber warning light on the dash and the car sticks in D ) I have to take it myself to the dealer where they will give me another Discovery till it is fixed.
I wil Post the outcome shortly ! Brand Loyalty Is An Expensive Business
