Sales rep did want to try my “off-road” route in east London, 20 inch wheels didn’t help either, D3 for me or D4 with 3.0L manual. Poor ride quality with the big rims.

Why would it be any different ???

New engine would be better power delivery wise, but TR would hold it back just like it does on the D3 when it matters.

Only issue I see with the D4 is the interior will suffer more and the exterior is a bit too pretty to get muddy Whistle

There is a clear distinction between the TR settings.

Is that due to the re-positioned TR dial in its handy new location ?

You sure you can get a 3.0l Manual? The D4 Manuals are the 2.7l engines as per the D3....

Only D4 Manual is the 2.7l Commercial. It was a question I asked when I ordered my D4 on Saturday.

As for the performance of the 3.0 compared to even a Torq Tuned 2.7 - Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

Having no TR is the current D3 all I can say is, yes I expect it'll be different Laughing

I recently tried the D4 and took it down a mild local green lane to compare it to the D3. I didn't expect there to be any difference but both SWMBO and i noticed the D4 soaked up bumps and drops in a more supple way than the stiffer off-road ride of our D3. This was a surprise when the road ride is noticeably taughter on the D4 than the 'riding on air' D3. Confused

Recently been on the LRE course in a D4 3.0 . It was fantastic, but TBH it didn't do anything my D3 wouldn't have or indeed does do Thumbs Up .

Been off road today - good news is did not get stuck! no different to my Disco 3 - still not good on grass / loose mud up to 6 in deep, all the clever electrics take over - I find reverse is the best gear - seems to let you drive. I do own a farm so the car is off road a fair bit of its life. My Disco 3 had a set of General Grabber AT 2 fitted worked well in the above conditions - what AT tyres can I fit to my XS? help please!
