Vehicle lowers overnight - suspension leaks ? |
|
Hi , wondering if anyone else has had this problem. In the last couple of months the vehicle has been lowering overnight . If it has been used in the evening then the next morning the front end is down , if it hasn't been used for over a day then it is low both front & back. I told the dealer & they said they needed to check it for leaks as it may harm the compressor . They checked it & had it overnight but could find no leaks.
But it is still dropping. Each morning I need to run the engine for a while & wait for the suspension to pump up.
Is there anything I can look for , or advise , or do I just take it back to the dealer again & get them to look again?
thanks. 07 White TDV6 SE ,ARB bar & warn 9500 winch, Rhino aero racks, Thomas super pump compressor, duel batteries, Hella spotties, UHF. Mitchell Bros Tow Hitch, LED module (towing with LED taillights), General Grabber Tyres.

I had a similar experience on my D2, it would drop down overnight and as soon as it was started up it went to normal ride height, it also happened when my dive kit was put in the boot, but the self leveling brought it back up.
Both rear air springs were replaced and problem solved, simple DIY job on the D2, not sure about the D3 I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

Leave it with the Dealer overnight , so they can see the front's leaked.
I had many problems with Fords in the UK , that were apparent only from a
cold start , so leaving the vehicle there overnight enabled them to witness it.
They didn't believe me/or were not bothered until it was in-their-face !

See http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic48169.h...suspension
If the front drops, it *could* be the front valve block.

Thanks wvlenthe for the link (I did try searching but couldn't find what I was after), these posts are just the symtoms I am experiancing. so I should be able to arm myself with some useful info to confront the dealer with . Hope the extended warrantee covers it.

My statement to any dealer has always been:
If a part should not have to be exchanged during the lifetime of a car, it must be fixed under warranty.
There are limits to anything but stuff like a fuel gauge is something that should last a lifetime.
good luck convincing them.

I had the same problem and it was a multi problem.
It was the front valve block leaking internally, in addition there was a leak in a hose and a leak in the main air cylinder. The more they fixed it just keep leaking!
Many thanks to Alliance extended warranty. I can not speak highly enough for their support.
Just keep at them

Hi Dave,
The causes of suspension leaking, as you can see, are many and varied. I suggest that you get it checked asap or you may need to add the compressor to the repair list.

Hi Again,
yes have finally had the problem resolved, though it was a long drawn out process where they replaced this valve , & then that valve & finally did what I said they would have to do all along & replaced the valve block.
Dealer said that it was Alliance that dictated that they had to try all the other fixes first .
Anyway all fixed & staying up .though now the relief valve is a lot louder with big whooshes every time it adjusts .

Congrats they got it fixed.
My dealer said the same, to be able to claim the costs for them with Land Rover or any other, they have to stick to a protocol.
