Front Wiper Arms

I'm sure that on my D3, the wiper arms could be folded away from the screen and would stay in that position for cleaning & etc. On my D4, they can only be lifted about 3-4" from the screen and will not stay away. Consequently on the recent frosty nights, the blades have become frozen to the glass with the possibility of tearing if inadvertently switched on.

I guess that I'll have to get hold of a couple of D3wiper arms and swap them over if they'll fit. Can someone do me a favour and check please if it's possible to lift the D3 wiper arms away so that they stay off the screen of their own accord?

Hi Bill the D3 wiper blades only lift off the screen about 3 inches at most but you can't fold them away.

Make sure you don't leave the wipers on auto setting when you leave the car over night. Thumbs Up

I use a wine cork under each arm to hold the blades off the glass surface both in the frost and heat of the blazing sunshine.
If you forget them they tumble away harmlessly and SWMBO can supply me with two more in the same number of days.
Champagne or other sparking wine are best [wider bases], these are placed close to the root of the arms.
Another bonus of corks is they don't rattle carried in the door bin.

Merry Christmas and prosperous and healthy New Year to all,

John

Great tip John. Now frantically glopping two bottles of wine with SWMBO! Rolling with laughter (before the frosat comes back).
