Different locking systems on Disco 3 from Disco 4 |
|
I have a large dog cage which fills the back of the Discovery. In the summer I can padlock the dogs in the cage, leave the tailgate open, and double zap the immobiliser. (The horn sounds twice). The main doors are locked, the dogs have air, and can move about without setting off the alarm, and I can leave the vehicle knowing that the vehicle is secure, and the dogs are not going to fry.
Today I replaced the Disco 3 with a Disco 4. The new handbook states that nothing will lock if any door, (including tailgate), is left open. Is there a fix I can make on the new vehicle to secure it while the tailgate is left open as I was able to do on the Disco 3?
All suggestions gratefully received - especially from my fresh air loving dogs.

Hi,
You can use the remote key to unlock and open the boot - the doors will remain locked.

Or if you have the smart key, you can lock the car and then just open the tailgate by hand. the rest of the car remains locked & immobilised.

Doh! Should have looked at the key!
Why read the handbook when you can get prompt help on this forum?
Thanks guys.
