Poland 2006 LR3 4.4 V8 HSE Auto Tonga GreenLR3

I think the nearest faultmate is in the UK Laughing but of course i will try to contact BBS Spy
Wiggs could be disappointed spending an all inclusive weekend in Poznan- it is not as atractive as Cracow although a beer is delicious here Laughing and i would have the most expensive 4x4 info Rolling with laughter
If you think about TPMS the best way is to look for it in the USA. If you have a TPMS module together with blue and green connector plugs (located in the middle roof) you have 70% of the system- the rest is some wires and antennas (maybe the switch pack located above the radio will be also necessary).
Is Cruise control only a switch located at the steering wheel + wires to ECU or there is also a separate module? I bought in US almost complete LR3 HSE '05 with slight demage only for parts and i think cruise control is still available and i can look for it.

Fitting OEM Sat Nav

Very Happy Well, I have to say thankyou Bow down to the site members that I have come into contact with on my OEM fitting Sat nav journey. I have a found this thread and site very interesting.

Just to recap, I was keen to fit, or have fitted an OEM sat nav unit and it so happened that I purchased the screen and unit of flea bay and then looked deeper into fitting the system, thinking it was almost plug and play Question .

Well its not quite that, much more in fact, in fact its been a great experience from start to finish, yes I took the seats out along with the carpet part of the dash, looms etc etc and then replaced it all after power up as per Ian’s thread in worked spot on. It was funny, my wife was horrified to see the car part way through the fitting, [she fainted, that was her escapism, and this, thinking about it, was mine!] whilst our neighbours over the course of the weekend just though I was having a spring clean.

Once done, yes the basic Nav worked, needed all the other functions [phone, tmc, voice activation, 4x4] activated which they were today.

So I must thank Andy, Ian & Wiggs. Thumbs Up

Looking forward to my next inspired project.

Thank You for the post - nice to see the hard work of doing the impossible is worth it! Smile
The screen with all its' bits (4x4 info, voice etc) is well worth having. It finishes off the vehicle - more toys to play with. The Nav is far better than having something stuck the windscreen and the TMC works well too.

One of those things that if you don't have you don't miss/don't know what your missing, but once you have it you don't want to be without.

Andy is in the process of fitting the RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment) which I have penciled in but not had the time to do .... yet!

Just when we thought we had this Red / Blue TMC antennea amp thing sussed, i came across something today i would like to share and which might cause a small re think.

An 06 sport with the Blue XUI500071A amp and the XRA500030 TMC unit which i thought was the Disco 3 one and i am almost sure i have had a Red one with the same TMC unit.

Here is a picture of the 2 side by side.

Interesting to note the small unused additional stub connector beside the main one and that the Blue one also carries the same power connector as the Red.

Just found this amazing post, do I want to start cutting up my dash? You bet I do.

A wee query from those that hae already done, this, what sort of prices did you pay for all the bits?

And does anyone know of any RRS/D3s being scrapped within a few hours drive of Glasgow?

Ian

Great guide as it finally inspired me to get the dremel out to chop the pocket out of my dash!

Having a d3 base, I long decided ago to go the carputer route as well as upgrading the speakers etc rather than try to do what you did. Also Memory Map and Centrafuse 3.1 are much better than the factory nav/media IMHO.

I managed to get a broke factory nav screen and butcher it to fit my 7" linitx transflective touch screen into. A job and half but gives it the factory look now!

Just need a decent OBD device to get monitoring now

Ian (and others),

I'm very interested in doing the same. Thumbs Up

I'm trying to figure out what I need. I'm working off a 2008 LHD D3.
It has: * HK radio 6-cd chaqnge built in, (but not the logic 7)
* voice recognition
* bluetooth telephone hands-free
* shark-fin in the top of the car
* cruise control
* Steering wheel controls: MODE, Track fwd/rev, Volume up/down,
Cruise control on/off and up/down, Voice control on

Does this mean I have a lot of the work already done?

What I really want is, first: vehicle information screen (4x4) & input a rearview camera to the OEM screen.
Secondly would be the navigation....
I need to prepare the parts shopping list, I'm sure it will take me a while to find the parts.

So any recommendations on what I need?

Thanks!

You will need:
the display.
Most optic with the display link in it.
You may have the dash loom already with the display connector in it. Worth having a look. If not the dash loom will need to be replaced/modified.
For navigation the loom which is part of the ICE body loom is required.
Nav CPU
GPS ant - it is easier to get a fin from a RRS (2007) as this has both the GSM and GPS in it. Otherwise you will end up taking you high level brake assembly appart - not an easy job.

Then when all is fitted you will need someone with the Fault Mate to configure it all. Land Rover dealers standard system will not.

All the parts are the same as a RRS,
Note: The US nav is not compatable with any other country - won't read UK mapping dvds etc.
So best to find a breakers in your counrty and get all the bits from that one vehicle.

The reversing camera at the moment is a work in progress.
I have got it to work (and a couple of D3 friends are testing it out) but there are still a few quwirks to sort out!

Mmmmm.
I wounder - speaking out loud...
So the red (D3) unit has a 12v feed and has a single glass connector.
The blue (RRS) has no additional feed - 12v is via the co-ax and has a dual glass connector

On the RRS side glass the glass connectors are on the same plane, ie connected together.
The overall lenght of copper in the RRS glass is more or less the same as the D3.

I did have the blue amp module on the side glass where it worked OK.
No I have moved it to the tailgate glass - where it works OK. This is until I tow my horse trailer then I usually loose the TMC signal - didn't happen when it was on the side glass.
More experiments required I think...
Anybody got a red unit going spare.?

Ian,

You lost me with: "Most optic with the display link in it. "

Also here is a pic of my fin....

So this one does not have the GPS antenna??

I found a display, what is a reasonable price to pay?

Thanks

The media items are connected together via a fiber optic bus called a MOST bus (Media Orientated Systems Transport).
At the moment yours goes only as far as the radio/cd. It need to then go to the display you are going to fit. There is a connector by the gear lever where it goes up to the radio:

Here is the rear of the diplay. You can see the MOST, navigation video and power connectors:

You have the glass roof panel so I am not too sure if you can fit the smaller RRS fin.
This is the RRS fin - slimmer than a disco3 one and contains both the GPS and GSM ant:

It is held on with two bolts on a plate underneath. Also you can see the two connectors - blue=GPS, pink = GSM:

It would be best to get all the bits from a breakers.
A display here on the well know auction site anywhere from £50 to £150.

Were you recommend I get the parts? I'm in the USA and it's more difficult.

So. To get the MOST cable up to the screen, I need to replace the whole thing? or is it just a 'Y' connector?
I see that you show the cable at the center console that goes up to the radio, where/how do I connect the screen to this fiber bus?

The GPS antenna on the LR3 is not in the fin but mounted inside the high break light assembly. See the PDF in my gallery.
