Windscreens
Anyone used the windscreen 'repair' option from the likes of autoglass?
I got a small 'star' crack on mine on the way to Aberdeen yesterday. It's not in my line-of-sight, but centre near the bottom.
I can't be 'd with the hoo-ha of replacement, so thinking of this option.
feedback on experience of this would be appreciated

Haven't used it on the D3 but have used a couple of times on works Passat. I went to them and it took about 30 mins to 'fill' 3 chips, one about 1 cm across and deep (M8 stone!!!!). Only issueI can see with D3 is if you have a heated screen and the chip or repair breaks the circuit in a section of screen.Club RLD spare wheel protection

Club its all black
Club D3 - it's gone
Club D4 - just arrived and still all black

It seems the repairs are Ok, i have had one done before though not on the D3, the only issue would appear to be if it might reduce the operating area of the heating elements in the windscreen

had one done in mine by autoglass (on a heated screen), about eye height on passenger side - took about 1/2 hr, great job. all still worked after wards. If you looked very close, you could see a small circle about an 1" across, but that was because I know where to look. If you didnt know, you wouldnt see it.
Free as well if you've fully comp insurance (with most insurerers)

Just spoke with insurance bods, who are sending a 'MAN' out to have a look at it, as Land Rover screens are problematic. Possible patch, or maybe replacement.

autoglass guy said he'd done loads on D3 and RRS. Certainly didnt have any issues doing mine, and all the heating elements still worked after.
hope yours goes OK

Autoglass came out yesterday and tried a repair. Still looks the same even though the 'hole' has been filled, so a new windscreen is being ordered.

Had major chip on way to Tunisia last year, sounded like a brick had hit the screen & left a half inch crater. It survived trip with mid 30s temps and down to 0c on way back and got repaired (free through Autoglass via insurer). Still visible but in lower left corner and well out if sight. Not spread after repair incl temps down to -20c with full heater and heated screen on. Heating elements above it work fine, no band of frost above it. Sorted!

Well, got the screen replaced about 6 weeks ago and had to use it in anger this morning. Guess what ??!!!
Heated screen only clears drivers side. Perfect 50:50 split between clear and still solid. Temp this morning was -4degsC
Totally hacked off about it, so a call to Autoglass to get it sorted me'thinks. I specifically asked the installer what happens if it does not work. "Lifetime guarantee mate!" was the reply.
Screen is not an LR unit but a brand autoglass one.

Hi, I have a nagging feeling there may be 2 fuses on the Heated screen, could just be one of those has gone. Not 100% just seem to remember reading a post somewhere !!!.
