Have ordered this as a dealer fit accessory and am awaiting receipt at HR Owen. Has anyone actually seen one fitted and, if so, does it look better / worse / worth the best part of £500?????

I had this as standard in my old TD5 series two and wondered about ordering it for the D3. All the pictures I have seen,(I have not seen it in person) it looks cheap....very cheap...almost fake. I decided against it even though I like the look of wood on the dash.
If you do go ahead, I would be curious in your thoughts after it is fitted.2017 Disco5 First Edition(On Order)

I have it it`s plastic fantastic. it looks good! I only paid half price
so then it was worth it. Asking price in norway is 9500,- NOK
Thats about 1500$.
Nice to be an Norwagian = overtaxed and over priced!
It's in today to have it fitted as well as the door rubbing strips. Don't like to ruin the lines of the vehicle but figure they'll look alot worse with a load of Tesco badges down the doors.
Have also asked them to look at the flickering Sat Nav screen so will post any info I can find.
I'll post some piccies of the interior when it's been done so that you can all see a non-doctored (ie Land Rover) view of what it looks like.
Fitted - wife hates it. I need to see it in the daylight as I've been out watching the Liverpool match. I don't mind the colour but the general finish seems shoddy. For example, because it just fits straight over the top of the existing fascia, it's now more difficult to adjust the air vents and it looks like what it is, a stick on cover. I was expecting a remove and replace job.
Where it butts up to the Sat Nav screen it leaves the tray exposed in grey plastic with a prett unsophistictaed plastic wood edging all the way around Further update in the light, but it doesn't look like £500 quids worth and I'm tempted to start thinking about a refund as the brochure pictures do not seem to accurately reflect the real world.
However, very happy with the bump strips on the doors. Very neat, don't ruin the line of the car and should save the paintwork.

Phil
Go into the gallery (click the link under the orange DISCO3.CO.UK logo) and create yourself a member gallery and album. Then you can upload the photos there.
Alternatively if it's a bit complicated, e-mail the photos to me (martin@disco3.co.uk) and I'll create a gallery for you
Now I've lived with the dash for a day I actually really like it. It breaks up the expanse of grey plastic in the centre console really well and makes the whole interior feel a bit more upmarket. It's certainly not in the Bentley / RR league but I do like the matt effect which gives it a bit of a Range Rover finish (though not big hunks of cherry wood like in the RR).
I'm still not convinved it's £500 worth but at least since it's an overlay I can remove it when I sell the car and e-bay it!

Yes - very happy - stops the Ipod from sliding around all over the place and it looks cool at night if you have it permanently backlit. Also, if you play the Ipod randomly or from a play list you can tab forward through your music collection without taking your eye off the road as the Ipod is well within reach. I've done nothing sopphisticated with the cables - simply run them down the side of the driver's seat.
Now, if only they would go the BMY route and offer a fully integrated Ipod installation so that you could control the Ipod from the steering wheel controls. I understand that the Alpine head unit in the D3 can support it but that the interface through the MOST hasn't been developed yet.
I don't know how the finsh compares or if they're available to the UK, but they're significantly cheaper so it may be worth checking out if that's your thang

I was thinking of having these fitted on delivery but it seems they are far down on the doors and you will still get dents higher up were the door curves outwards. The Disco2 bump strips are at least on the part of the door that sticks out the most.
Am I right or what ?? Haven't seen any fitted in Oz yet
My door strips seem to be positioned at the perfect height (which I presume is the standard height), they seem to line up perfectly with the doors on majority of 'normal' cars
