New LR3 Hitch

Ditched the genuine quick release hitch (plow) and installed a real 2” receiver hitch.

Curt now makes an excellent bolt on hitch. It fits 05 – 08 LR3s, part number 13456.

Seriously, I can’t explain how pleased I am to get a real receiver hitch!

The total price was $156 at my door. My hitch has a manufacture date of 07/22/09, so they’ve not been out too long. I’m very impressed with the product. It’s deluxe. Now I can use my motorcycle hitch rack or tow my 25’ travel trailer with confidence. Unlike the stock hitch, this one sits at a decent height, just below the bumper fascia, and it is solid.

It installed very easily. The truth is that the straightening of the fishwire was the most difficult task. The fishwiring was packaged in tightly wound coils. To use it properly, it had to be bent straight to fish the hitch mounting hardware through the frame rail. Note: make sure you fish the washer and bolt through the lowest access, i.e., along the bottom of the frame rail. Oh, the larger washers go on the underside mounting point. Also, leave the bolts loose until the spare tire is fully raised. I have the full size spare. It is a tight fit. So, tighten the mounting bolts once the tire is in place.

A pdf file of instructions is online. Typically, most hitch vendors have a link to the instructions on the product page. Take a look.

Here is a link to some photos of my install. http://jalbum.net/users/pheiner/

The hitch does not interfere with the rear parking assist.

Thank you.

Ahhh. I see now.

Similar to the Hayman Reece one in Oz.
Better than OEM for towing tintents but not off-road trailers.

We went higher for Off Road use:

Would need special testing for US and UK market though.

I would like one if you could still use the standard 50mm Landrover ball.

Do you have a link to the supplier ?

It looks like it fouls the standard plough mount

The Curt hitch is a bolt on deal. Yes, it does block the original quick release hitch mount - it's a replacement.

I purchased mine through Autoanything. etrailer or thehitchstore has them too.
