Weights under rear of car |
|
I was taking a look underneath the car when I noticed the below. If anyone knows what they are please let me know.
Underneath at the rear of the car behind the bumper there is what looks like 2 weights either side of the spare wheel. They swing in a forward / rearward direction when moved. The movement seems dampened. They feel heavy and look like they are made from concrete (although I'm sure they are not). Gavin.

- Thats what you think of the last post?
- Thats what the weights are called?
Please pick the most appropriate answer above ! 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Ran out of RRS Power have we ???
And yes the dangly bits are part of the D3's dynamic ride system - somehow or another. Maybe just keep its on the ground as all the weights up front ??

Especially to a guy who probably not only personally knows every D3 owner in Taz, but also every Land Rover owner too! Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

the maintenance manager at my dealership told me they were for the cars harmonics and to help minimise the transfer of road noise into the cab. they minimise or stop chassis vibrations.

Hey........come on........ I think they represent fair possible answers to a one word question such as 'Gonads' - I'm sure that I could of thought of many more.
No offence was intended and I humbly apologise to all who fail to understand my style of humor.
Anyway - d3syd is still yet to clarify 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Thanks for the PM, DG. No offence taken, or in Aussie parlance: "she'll be right mate".
On the subject of the said D3 'gonads', it's impressive how much engineering has gone into the car to reduce the NVH. Obviously though, this was of higher importance to LR than weight saving! '06 TDV6 SE AUTO BUCKINGHAM BLUE
