When to change transfer box oil

According to maintenance schedule, transfer box oil should be changed at 75K. This does nor read like 75K or 5 years, (like drive belts which are 105K or 7 yrs, or getabox oil which is 10yrs) but mileage only related. I had my 5 yr. 75K service done by JE Engineering in November but they said not necessary as actual mileage only 50K.

Any thoughts on this?

I take it from lack of response that the change is only needed at 75K, not age related and no benefit from changing earlier ?

Maybe it's from having to travel in very remote places, but I changed transmission, transfer box, and diff oil after 3 years. Made a pest of myself and had a look and sniff of the fluids just to make sure there was no water or other contamination in it. The trans fluid looked and smelt burnt (and the trans worked a bit smoother) but the rest looked okay. This was surprising due to the salty bogs and salt water the D3 had wallowed in. I did a mental cost/benefit and figured I could change the fluids 5 times if it had a 50% chance of preventing a transfer box refurbishment (ignoring the consequence of it failing "out bush").
