"Unused" Cables
I was test fitting the towbar today (before I have to do it in anger at the crack of dawn with a trailer full of animals ) when I discovered the following cables hanging loose in the N/S rear storage area. Does anyone know what they are for and whether I should be concerned that they are not connected?

I'll try the rear power socket & see if it is working - I guess I need to try the towing electrics too. It will be a right pain in the to find out they aren't working when I hitch the trailer up in anger.
Thanks for the info

Grey one appears to be plugged into the tow electrics on mine, orange one is also spare on mine but rear aux socket is still working so it is not for that. I also have a black one that is not connected.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

I'll check all the electrical bits in the back and if they're all working, I'll stop worrying

Do you have a 7 or 13-pin socket fitted?

Hmm Just checked the rear power socket & it is not working Something else for the dealer to check on Tuesday) Need to dig my meter out to check the 12N&S electrics too. I've never needed to check this (indeed it never occured to me that I would need to) on any of my previous cars

Ps does anyone know if the middle seats power socket should have a cover on it? It has the main flap for the power & aux sockets but no seperate cover on the 12v socket.

The grey (although mine is actually white) 7 pin tow socket is for powering a caravan electrics (fridge etc)....you only ever need the black socket if you're just connecting a trailer

But did you plug the orange connector back in?

No cover - just a hinged flap to cover the whole panel.2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG
