Hello to everybody,
first of all, please forgive my english.I'm reading this forum since beginning of september, and have to say thank you to all for all things I've learned.
I'm italian, and I've ordered a new disco4 HSE in september, and I'm waiting it for the 15th of january.
Unfortunately, HSE version in Italy, eventhough it starst from 58k euros, hasn't got many features that are standard in UK.
So I've added:
20" alloy wheels
lower cooler box
7 seats
Harman kardon premium line
electric roof
Bluetooth
(but many things, like premium leather etc. that are standard in Uk, I've not added)
Colur is Nara Bronze, with almond/arabica interiors and Walnut inserts.
Will post many pictures as soon as I get it!

I'm sure it will be worth the wait
I went on a factory tour recently, and we saw several Itailian police Discovery 4 base models, with coil suspension being built. They were painted in a very bright pale blue colour.

Allora - amazed that you don't even get 7 seats & bluetooth as standard on an HSE ?
By the way - you have ordered the best colour combo in my opinion.
Please just be careful not to get it scratched by all the rather crazy drivers in your country. Just driving to the shops in Napoli is like entering the Gumball Rally.

Sure, and not rear view camera, electric steering column, heated seats, volumetric alarm, keyless entry, metallic or metalized colur...quite nothing is standard, we have to pay everything, and the base prize is 58k euros (mine total is 66k euros, but I got a good discount).
Merry Xmas and happy new year to everybody!

I wonder whether it would be better for you to import an HSE from the UK ? They are about £45k here (with discount) - so about 50k euro - and you get everything that seems to be missing from your car. I think you can special order left hand drive cars in the UK. But vehicle taxes in Italy perhaps scuppers that idea ?
I will happily deliver one from the UK to Naples. Just love that area - Sorrento, Capri, Amalfi Coast, Herculaneum .... fantastico ! Disco 4 TDV6HSE

We drove to Napoli in our old 200Tdi Discovery, back in 1997. 3 days to get there, no aircon, kids strapped to the dicky seats in the back, a pair of halfords electric fans to keep them cool, those were the days! and yes you are right, the drivers are mad. Size matters though, and usually the biggest car wins, so D4 should be fine.
Did a drive up to the car park at the summit of Vesuvius, and my youngest son had the pleasure of needing a wee at the summit, so he pee'd over the edge into the crater
We took a day trip out to Capri, and managed to miss the last boat back to Naples. The harbour master was so kind, he saw we had young children and called the boat back on his radio! (had to leave a considerable tip to the boat captain)
Excellent place and would love to go back sometime

Yes, VAT (20%) could make useless this idea, you have to pay it when coming back in Italy...
Yes, Neaples is a wonderful, crazy town (evenif i live near Naples, in countryside, and is better and more quiet), and I think that if you learn to drive in Naples, everywhere is easier!
Just an info, how do you measure fuel economy? What means "mpg", f.e. 28 mpg?Just to convert the measure and get an idea of it.
Quattroruote, most important car review in Italy, in last number made a long test on disco4, and says the fuel economy medium is about 7,5 km/l (kilometres for each gasoline litre).
Last thing, you drive it more in automatic gear or sequential?
Thanks again, also for all compliments for my lands!

MPG mean "miles per gallon". To convert MPG to KM/l use this website http://mpg.webix.co.uk/ If I am using this right - 7.5KM/litre is equivalent to 37mpg. That can't be right. 30mpg is about the best long term average a D4 would do.
In the UK VAT is 15% going back uo to 17.5% next week. If you export a vehicle brand new I think you can avoid paying UK VAT and just pay Italian VAT. That would still make a D4 sourced from the UK a lot cheaper. I suspect there may be some other import restrictuion or registration tax or something like it to make importing vehicles to Italy uneconomic. Otherwise everyone would do it. I seem to recall there is a very high tax in Italy on large, expensive, big engined cars. Thats why most of you guys drive small cars. That plus the fact that many of the roads are quite narrow - especially when there is a lorry coming down the middle of the road at you and wont stop !
Automatic mode (as opposed to steptronic mode) is the normal driving and I guess all quoted MPG's will be in Auto. Disco 4 TDV6HSE

Saw the website, thanks, it works perfectly.
7,5 km/l is 21 mpg or 13,5 l /100 km, meanwhile 37 mpg would be 7,5 l/100, that would mean Disco is doing more than 14 km with 1 litre of gasoline...quite perfect (and i guess unreal, unfortunately!).
Actually in Italy there aren't more taxes on big cars, but i think we have to pay some custom taxes that can make loose the convenience.
I'm thinkin to try the way to buy there my next "third" car, my dreamed Lotus Elise , to take my private moments of driving freedom!
