|
Hi Guys.
We are about to launch a new range of insurance products to help with ownership costs, specifically for Land Rover customers. These have been hand picked by us to offer the best level of cover along with a highly competitive rate.
Tyre insurance is not widely available but offers great protection especially for expensive 4x4 tyres!
Our rates which we will be offering are as follows. We offer these on any vehicle up to 7 years old and that have covered less then 75k miles at the start of the agreement term:
2 year cover: £162.00 Inclusive 5% IPT.
3 year cover: £236.00 Inclusive 5% IPT.
NO POLICY EXCESSES! - Also covers Run Flats.
Up to 5 claims per policy. Damaged tyres, Vandalised and or accidental damage.
Also covers repairs where possible. Will not cover tyres which have run out of tread and/or have under 2mm tread at time of claim. Full T&C's available on request.
12 months interest free terms available.
Deals subject to change/variation from time of post.
Available as stand alone product.
Email me or PM if interested.

OK, so obvious first dumb question... why does VEHICLE age or mileage affect TYRE insurance?
Second question/statement... off road damage is covered, right?
3. 5 claims per policy period, or per year? Makes quite a difference to the usefulness of the discount on the 3 year policy!
Those questions aside, since a mate's just had two run flats go in a month on his 3 series, at a couple of hundred quid a pop, it looks quite good value

Hi Martin, no worries thanks for taking an interest in this offering.
1/ This is dictated by the insurance company, they must have some weird and wonderful stats that have come about from previous experiences which their actuaries have worked out, so we just have to follow these restrictions unfortunately.
2/ Usage in the car has to follow this excluson: "Where the vehicle is not driven in accordance with the manufacturers recommendation". So an offroader being an offroader by nature? this would be ok in my view, as all punctures and damage is covered for repair/replacement within the claim limit and time limit of the policy.
There are no specific exclusions for off road use.
There is an exclusion specifically for use under: Hire or reward
4x4's & SUV's are included in vehicles where the policy is available for.
3/ 5 claims per policy period, not per year unfortunately. You can however take it out for two years the a further two years after that should you wish (as long as car under 7 yrs and 75k miles). Assuming tyre insurance product is still available then.
Definitely worth it! my brother in law had cover in his rrsport 20" SC alloys, so the cover was well worth it, when he had to make 3 claims in 1.5 years!
Anything else, let me know, or if you want full T&C's i can pass these on.

Well most cases no. However they do reserve the right to inspect any vehicle/tyre at the point of claiming.
Also the repairer has to fill out a report, so they take their report as accurate in most instances.

Good stuff... Yeah the prices we thought weren't bad at all considering the costs involved at replacing tyres..

I know you're answered this previously, but wanted to add my thoughts about the mileage and age. Only because my D3 is over 75k, the fact that the tyres have only done 2k doesn't make any difference?
How can it be that I could have a D3 with tyres almost at MOT failure with 35k miles on the clock and they would be covered, but new tyres on a car with 76k on the clock wouldn't be?
I appreciate what you've said about the underwritters, but please pass back the thought that it's a stupid requirement. IMVHO D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Looks interesting...
Is there any 'no betterment' option - ie insurance companies don't tend to put you in a better position that you were before. Therefore, if my AT2s with 35K on them and another 6 month life left in them all get slashed at the same time, are they going to replace with 4 new tyres, or just contribute to the cost? 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

Hi Kam,
Is it 5 CLAIMS per policy or 5 TYRES per policy. i.e. if some greeny decided to go tyre slashing down one side, would this be covered as one claim or as 2 claims (Tyres)?

Stu - Will do, understand what you are saying completely, will see if they have anything else to offer..
John C - No, there is no betterment option, although the Tyres have to be: carrying E - European Marker and have to be the vehicle standard tyres, i.e. not fitted for off road activities.
The maximum payment limit per claim (tyre) is: £250.00
You can use their network of fitters, or any VAT Registered Garage.
Iain, interesting point: One tyre = one claim.
Limit is 5 per policy period, whether you take it for one year or two.

Kam,
Quite interested in this: So if I have a tyre with 4mm left, they will replace with a new tyre yes? Also, off road pay and play sites are covered? - so it doesnt have to be just a road or byway?

Does this include or exclude ATR/MTR/Cooper LTZ'd?

Thanks Kam
So, if I took out the policy on five tyres, for three year cover, and some ***** slashed all five... then that would be my policy up? I'm thinking that on AT2s (£100 x 5)-£236 = I win £264. Whereas, on more expensive tyres (£180 x 5)-£236, I win £664. Correct?
Just thinking whether the gamble works on cheaper tyres Thanks for all the info. 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

Hi Neil.
Yes if your tyre is above legal limit of 1.6mm (2mm to be safe) it will be replaced/repaired, whatever is required.
If you are using the car off road, with off roading specialist tyres then these will not be covered/replaced.
However at the point of claim, the tyre fitter(who must be VAT registered) would be responsible for filling out the claim form, and he/she would have to fill out the details as to the car's usage and condition and also that of the tyre in question.
If it's repairable, they will pay for repair, if not they will pay replacement charge up to £250 per tyre.
As long as they are road going tyres and carry E marker, they are fine. In the general exclusions see point: 9.
No brands are excluded as such but you will have to adhere to the rest of the conditions on the policy as with any other insurance product.

Yes, provided these tyres have an 'E' marker and aren't fitted for 'Off Roading Activities'.
Your claim form would need to be filled out by the fitter in this respect.
Yes if you claimed all five tyres, then the policy would cease after the 5th tyre. Yes the calculations above are correct.
