Well there were a couple of threads about the 105k service which is a biggie as services go and I said I'd share my experience. After ringing around a few dealers thought I'd got myself a decent deal. As a first time customer the service for £575. Did it include all the belts? Told yes when quoting and yes when double checking when booking it.
Lucky I checked the web site as I didn't realise the service department isn't in the same place as sales. Not far away but could've been a tad annoying. Web site gives address but not location, but google maps pinpointed a large enough building on the London Road with a pretty full car park to get me there first time.
Welcome was very nice and courtesty car was a bonus....a Jaguar XF S. 8)
So a great start, but unfortunately was a day of two halfs! Had a phone call later on and track rods needed replacing for £220 and needed a new cam belt £400! So then started the argument that belts should've been included. Negotiated a reduction in price, but felt so annoyed at myself for not getting things in writing and them for what felt like a complete rip off. They also needed to keep the car an extra day.
Picked the car up and it was cleaned inside and out and the price had been reduced a bit further.
So in conclusion if you get what seems like a reasonable deal then get it in writing. As for Guy Salmon in Ascot. A good customer experience but for the one kick in the teeth. Would I go back? Jury's still out on that. Would I recommend....well I've got some vouchers that'll get 2 bottles of wine if I recommend anyone. Let me know if you'd like to share. Might take the bad taste away!
