POOR and SHODEY WORKMANSHIP |
|
Just had a good look under the D3, recently it had been into the steeler for the third time for steering and suspension knocks, the last time they had it for three weeks to fix the problem which was unexecptable. I found the brake hoses on the RHS loose, the bolt missing holding the hose bracket missing , the hose was free to rub on all sorts of things which to my mind is dangerous. Then a look at the steering colomn reveiled two hoses dangling on thw wrong side rubbing on the uni joint on the column . All this shocked me, . Now I am wondering what else they have up.
It has to go back for more warrenty work , low coolent level sensor and bottle, plastic shield broken under compressor.
Do I take it back to them or contact LR head office for advice with the request that they loan me a LR and take mine off to Sydney to fix it propley and check all the other work done by this SHODDY f dealer ?
I havent named the steeler but you dont have to be Einstine to work out who it is

Speak to trent at Alto, Artarmon. Always have tried to do the right thing by me.
They give a lone car for service work. Not sure about warranty work though. But if it is due for service................ “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Rob,
Would now be the right time to ask if you have filled in the survey of how happy you are with your dealer?

Peter,
Yes I had replyed some time ago but have just made an amendment. I am going to sit on this one until tomorow, then I will be on the phone to get something sorted. If I do it today my acid tongue may be counterproductive.

I see our local 'friendly' dealer has struck again . Sorry to hear about the list Rob. I finally got round to taking mine to Sydney. It was there for a week (prearranged). I had a loner for the week, no questions asked.....actually they offered . Although they didnt get everything on my list done (it was quite comprhensive......we do use the same dealer ) they did do a very good job with what they did....the knock has dissappeared, no more s/ware issues etc. By comparison to the local, it was a pleasue, will certainly be doing a 6 monthly trip to Syd in the future

Rob & Gethro,
I believe there is a new dealership at Moss Vale. Only opened late last year. I don't know if they have fully trained mechanics available, but if they do I would think they would be trying their best to provide the best service possible to build a reputation.
Hope this is of assistance. Since purchasing a VW Golf from Lennocks 18 mths ago I know how frustrating it is to deal with an absolutely incompetent dealership when attempting to get things fixed with a supposedly "bulletproof" and "reliable" vehicle.
Regrads, Dennis.

Not so bullet proof. My 2.0 TDI Golf was replaced by the dealer after failing to fix issues. Turned out to be faulty ECU which kept telling them all was OK and they believed it. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Dennis,
The new dealer at Moss Vale sounds good, they may be enthuastic to get and impress customers.
Do you have a contact number for them ?
Moss Vale is a lot closer than Sydney so they may be a good alternitive.

Sorry Rob,
It was around July / August period last year when I was doing the sums on buying a Disco3 and I think Landrover in Sydney put me onto them. I phoned them at the time and they had only just been appointed as a Dealer and were setting up. I can't find their contact details.
I also spoke to the guys at Albury and they said that they get quite a few owners from Canberra down there so they know they are about 50% cheaper on servicing costs than Canberra.
Dennis.

Decided to go and see the responsible dealer, Asked to see the service manager and workshop manager, explained the poor and dangerouse work they did and that I was realy off, I had to wait a wile untill my car was put on the hoist for me to show the workshop manager the problems, to his credit he was also shoched and said the usual stuff about employees etc. but the buck stops at the top.
The brake bolt left out I was able to replace at home so it was safe to drive. the two hoses put on the wrong side of the steering column are fuel lines [ low preasure ] from the pump at the tank to the HP pump at the rail, they go down to what I was told was a cooler, more like a heater as it is near the engine and would get hot. I dont like this setup it seems vunerable and is only made of plastic.
I had the radiator expansion tank to be replaced to, they ususlly keep them in stock but had run out, and was told they do at least 2 a day. so as soon as they get a expansion tank in they will do the work.
This brings me to the 60k service soon due, this is a "A" service . Would I be correct in it being only engine oil and filter change, and a bit of a half harted check over ?

Got my 60,000 km service done by an inderpendant, not going back to local dealer unless it is for warrenty, then I will get it checked.
During the service we found the front and rear diffs had been overfilled, just about up to the fill hole , something I had not checked after the last service when they seriously overfilled the engine oil, luckley I checked the dip stick, I had to drain oil out to get it to the correct level, I did this myself as was about to leave on Simpson trip.
In conclusion the car will be cheched out by a inderoendant expert prior to warrenty end and a list if aney given to fix at dealer then rechecked by inderpendant .
After warrenty ends I will do minor services and the inderpendants will do what I con not handel.
I CAN NOT TRUST THE LOCAL LR DEALER TO DO THEIR WORK PROPERLY

Hi Rob,
Thanks for posting, I'm at 57K and heading fast for the 60K service. Moss Vale is not to far to go if people are happy with results.
All the best TDV6
