Vic High Country

Just back from Vic High Country trip, did some great tracks Very Happy and the D3 went exceptionally well. Had to leave a day early because of CATASTROPHIC fire danger, guess that must be serious. Had one vehicle scrub out a tyre (800k on it Big Cry ) but no other damage
D3 is covered in dust inside and out so will have to spend some time getting ready for Lake Crackenback.
Jonesy, may be able to catch up with you,Jen and I will be in Jindabyne from the 20th.
Will post some photos of Vic shortly.

Hi Kev
I should have a download of the tracks by early next week hopefully. But a couple of good tracks are Blue Rag Range and Billy Goat Bluff. Also a trip up to the Pinnicles is a must. I used an average of 19l/100k off roading and took an additional 20ltrs of diesel but did not have to use it, could have been different if we were able to do the last day. A V8 Rangie was using 32lt/100k Embarassed
Unfortunately wont be able to join you SWMBO thinks I should maybe consider doing some work Rolling Eyes
Maybe we could catch up next week and I can give you a copy of the trip details.
cheers
Wayne

Thanks Oldsalt, certainly some great camping spots.
I also used rollon paint protection and have just finished cleaning the Disco and "not a scratch"
Painted on with roller and used Karcher to get off. Any residue came off with metho.

Went through some sections where blackberries were over the track and also had a 50cm section on the door where the film had been been pretty badly scrathed, but disappeared whent the film was taken off.
Will certainly use this again, got it from TJM about 6 mths ago and had not used previously

Wayne D,

Did you go up to Mt Pinnibar by any chance ?

I did a loop from Tom Groggin, along the Davies high Plain Track, right onto Buckwong Track, right onto Mt Hope Road and then along the Mt Anderson/Mt Gibbo Road up Mt Pinnibar and back to Tom Groggin in early Jan 2010. Very Happy

Was fantastic day trip, lots of great scenery, some fun and challenging tracks, (all handleded easily by my TDV6 D3), but saw a Disco changing out a damaged tyre at the intersection of the Mt Pinnibar and Tom Groggin track, hope that was not you, although it looked like a nice place to stop.

Great place to travel, will be back there in Easter and hope to do some more tracks then. Love the photos as well.
 Regards,

George

George
We did Dargo High Plains to Blue Rag Range Track, Basalt Knob Track and into Talbotville. Cynthia Range track and into Eaglevale. Next day Billy Goat Bluff upto East Pinnacles onto Dargo for fuel and camped at Black Snake creek. Then back into Eaglevale and onto the Wombat spur and Herne spur. Mount Hart, Mount Sarah along Tea tree Range track to Mt Selwyn down to Abbeyyard where we met the Rangers who told us that we had to vacate the SF next morning Camped along the river as the temperature nudged the 40's.

Had my Cooper STT's on and although some chipping did not have any punctures and the ArmourDuco protected the paintwork, just Censored loads of dust.
Great trip and as you say the D3 just eats it! Very Happy

We are going to the RRCOV outing at Watervale (near Dargo ) Labour day weekend again this year, fires allowing. We take short trips into the steep and rough country. No trouble with the TDV6 vaporizing as the RR did in the 70's in the high country. Great family weekend and great for them wot wants accompanied steep and rough country driving and to find what their D3 will do up there..
Cooper S/Ts, Dynamic 17x7s, Rotronics 3 way battery control, Boab drawers, Polaris camera, Mitch Bros tow, 4x4Intell wheel carrier and cargo barrier, Obie's rear wndow protector, Windcheetah roofrack, Featherlite rooftop tent, Faultmate, Trakmaster Nullabor 17. VK3PR VHF UHF.
