How are your plastic wheel arches, bumpers (fenders for our American friends) and bits fairing. Mine are going like an old Ford Transit bumper and it is only 1 month old  .

Mine are still like new. I used Autoglym bumper protector/restorer when I first got the car. (Green slimy stuff, but its good)

Seem OK, just slight polish sediment - I use Turtle Wax Extreme for quick washing & it gets everywhere!!

I have also bought some Liquid Leather to clean the seats and another to protect them from mud and water as I don't want seat covers. Oh no I've done it again Must try harder not to clean it!!

Sorry to bring up the plastic bits again (and the peanut butter, leather etc), but has anyone seen a 2 year old Fords external plastics. They are the same as the D3 and do they fade, big time . Did you know that on the underside the plastic bits are stamped to tell a storey. They are the same construction as the Ford 4x4's and they are horrendous . Mine are totally shot now and that is only after about 2 months and a bit of light off roading. The D3 has only ever been washed with water and leathered down (don't say a word any of you  ). The top edge of the plastic wings and bumpers are marked from simply wiping a leather over them and the fade from the sun has started.
When the day is dull they appear OK, but when the sun is on them, they are terrible and embarrasing  . Does anyone else have the problem yet  or am I the only one for some unknown reason I really am going to have to get them colour coded.

It may be just that you are unlucky, I've had mine for 5 months and no fading at all, also the underside plastic bits are OK - aren't they thin and a bit tacky really - disappointing that they have decided to try and cut costs on bits that are less visible. 2004 Discovery 3 - gone

Mine are fading, have horrible scratching from brush, and looking generally crappy after only 2 months. I was just marveling at how bad they look yesterday as I washed the beast...
Ahwell, at least you can tell I use it.  '05 LR3 HSE

Why don't you ask to have them replaced anyway, its not normal for them to fade in such a short period of time. 2004 Discovery 3 - gone

I'll wait to see how the newer ones hold up. No sense pressing for replacement unless the new bits do better...
It is a little depressing, though; the plastic bits on our Freelander and Disco stood up to lots more abuse/sun without issue.
One tip for Land Rover: stop putting black plastic trim around the windscreen! How about some metal for those of us that use these thnigs? That area always takes a hell of a beating in the forests... '05 LR3 HSE

The plastic is pretty awful on some of the older Discos I saw today. If the sun is strong, the bad plastic shows up even more. Perhaps I'll move to Iceland in the winter. I asked the dealer to replace it and they were happy to. However good old Land Rover CS told them to have the car cleaned and 'see what they could do'. I am not having that.
I think it is time to be a bit tough, not with the dealer, but with LR through the dealer. My only problem is what is the point of losing the car for a couple of days for plastic replacement to find it all deteriorates again. I am seriously thinking of colour coding it at my cost.

If you do eventually go down the colour-coding route then I'd appreciate it if you posted some details of cost and may be some pictures. Although my plastic isn't too bad I think the look of the whole vehicle improves with colour-coded trim....I saw some pictures of a silver D3 elsewhere on the site and it looked pretty smart, I reckon colour-coded black on black would look even better !!. Keep us posted.
