A friend of mine who is in the tyre trader has located 18" reasonably aggresive tyres, but with sensible road holding. They are like hens teeth at the moment, but he is working on it. Looks as if they will be around £110 each or less. I think they were General Grabbers and looked quite reasonable.
He has tried them on the Nurenburg Ring circuit and was pleased with the result.

BN,
But they don't fit the DISCO3's 18" wheels from what I remember from the conversation do they ??
Correct me of I'm wrong as I don't want to lead anyone astray.

Yes they would fit the standard wheel. However Gary could not get a wheel that he could fit them on as an aftermarket job lot. The other problem was that the tyres at the moment are not easy to obtain, he had the only set on the stand yesterday, well 2 of them.

Ahh... must have had my wires crossed. Sorry.
Have his card so will be calling him for sure when I need tyres.
How would this type of tyre wear compared to the stock Goodyears ? If they offered similar tarmac and wet weather performance I'd probably go for them on my 'S' when the Goodyears wear out.

To be frank, I am not sure. I think they are softer than Goodyear, so may not do as many miles. I need to try a set to see how they throw stones also as the tread is a little wide. For normal use it could be dodgy if towing.

I think it is sometimes a backorder error, then they fit what is available.

I don't know what the logic is, but mine also has Scorpions and both the D3s at the Honiton LRE are running Scorpions too.

I had a look at the General Grabbers AT2 on Gary's stand but the size is wrong. They are 255/55 rather than 255/60 that the Goodyears are. Why do LR do stupid tyre sizes!
As for aftermarket wheels, they just seem to be impossible to get hold of. Disco 3 TDV6HSE Cairns blue auto

Simons the tyres I saw, were only 2 and standing at the front. They were not the one you saw I dont think.
What are 3 Simons called, a gaggle, flock or herd?

A Kingdom mate... we will take over eventually
Now... the tyres I saw and thought were the wrong size (one of the dimension at least) were the two stacked up in front of Gary while we were talking about his running them around the Nurburgering.
And these required different wheels even though they were 18"
