Well, as I usually complain about them (Dealers) I thought I had better give Solitaire Service Centre in Mile End, Adelaide, credit - my car needed the D3 brake recall done (05/06 models) and sure enough the brake fluid was contaminated with oil and just about every component (brake master cylinder, hoses etc) had to be replaced - and it was all fixed fuss free and with great service. Couldnt fault it. Fingers crossed it continues.
cheers

Just had my MY05 Disco HSE into Lennock Motors Canberra for a service and check on the brakes. The system was similar to the problems associated with the recall notice. I am not one of the VINs covered in the recall and well out of the warranty period but I do have exteneded warranty with Allianz. They fought and won the battle for the problems to be fixed under the recall notice. Virtually a new braking system. Very happy with the service.
Would love to see how the vehicle really is but it is still at the workshop overnight as they have lost/misplaced the keys.
The Nissan ? is a nice replacement vehicle but temporary only until I take my spare set of keys back or they find mine.
8:40 AM Keys now found, They are on their way out to my house for a vehicle change-over. Retired Bob

it is a very basic procedure and a bit of a cash cow for dealers and a Holden dealership could have done the job. wait till they actually need to diagnose and then actually fix something, your opinion may change and try not to laugh if Kevin ever tells you he used to be a tech
piece of advice, mark your items if you take it in for a service and also take a note of the km's too and check for grease and oil on your seats before you leave.

I bet it doesnt. Sorry
My experience with Solitare was the complete opposite.
They could not do anything right at all, and some things they did were down right dangerous.
See http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=594611#594611 and my other posts for details.
I had numerous warranty issues so I had no option but to go there. I still got my LR serviced at Prestige though, as I trusted them a little more.
Just by way of example, they replacd the sensors in the fuel tank to fix a fuel gauge problem, and the 1st time I filled up after getting it back I had fuel pooring out under the vehicle onto the ground! Unbelievable? You bet!
The best (or worst) part, was after they "fixed" the leak, and I got to the next fill (a week or so later), it did exactly the same thing again! I should have just dropped a match on the ground then and there!
I would not trust them as far as I could throw them.

Hi Peterall,
I take it you are happy with Sovereign Motors then? Any other positive/negative service reports from Sovereign?
thanks

G'day Settler - Sovereign used to do any big repairs (cambelt replacement etc.) on my Defender and always did a good job at a much lower cost than the official dealer.
But another option you might consider since you are up here in the hills is Jarretts at Bridgewater (Mazda & Nissan Dealers); they do all the regular services on my D3 at a fraction of the cost of Solitaire, from whom incidentally, I have had very good service, but at high price!!
Jarretts have handled my D3 for the last couple of years and should be pretty familiar with the beast by now... Ex Defender 110 200Tdi owner.

Thank you very much for your reply, Tony.
I do a few things myself when it comes to service, such as oil change and brake pads. I found the care reasonably easy to work on and Landrover Tech Info online provide all the technical information. Also recently installed an electric brake controller and have done a write up on Disco3.co.uk http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic39892.html
I previously heard really good things about Sovereign and given that I work in town, it would probably be good option for me.
Bridgewater, whilst closer to me, is a bit out of my way and not as convenient. Thanks for the top though anyway. Happy to catch up with you for a coffee/tea/beer for a chat, if you'd like. Send me a private message if you are interested.
Cheers
