New boy First Question
Just bought a Disco 3 but with only one key!!
Went to LR today to be told that will be £200!!!!!!!!! for a new one.
There must be a cheaper way.
Oh, and hello

New key is about £100 to £130ish and then you need to pay a dealer about £50 to enable it to match the car (and remove any previous keys you no longer have)
If you type +repalcement +key +cost in the searchbox (keep the +signs in) and there are various posts including an e-bay reference for a blank. Bodsys Brake Bible
Or just take good care of the key you have. Many people never use their spare.
However, I'd be very aware that that car did have two keys........ Do you know and trust whoever sold the vehicle to you? The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

I think if the dealer sorts out a replacement key the old one gets locked out of the cars system. It could be used in the passanger door lock but would not be able to shut off the alarm or start the car.

I had exactly this problem when I bought my D3 from a main stealer - although they were telling me that the second key was 'around somewhere', and then 'it's still with the previous owner'........a few choice words with the dealer principal later, second key was ordered, programmed (and to do this they need to have all the keys that you want to use with the vehicle - so 'old' keys get de-programmed).....all FOC !
If you bought from a main stealer - ask them where the second key is.
If you bought from an inde - ask them as well, if you buy the blank, they may waive the re-prog costs.
If you bought private - be a bit worried !!!Jim
