SOFTWARE UPDTE
Car just ben to dealer for some TLC,
Faulty fluid sender FIXED
Faulty park brake FIXED
SINKING SEAT THEY THINK I AM MAD
Big first gear flat spot SOFTWARE UPDATE
What a difference the update makes, I can now pull into traffic, instantly even to the effect of getting wheel spin, in the dry !!!!!
I used to use a calender to pull on to main roads.
If anyone having any work done insist on it as it makes a big difference, to an already great car

Hi Ian,
Glad to hear that the service sorted out the flat spot in 1st. I would be interested in what upgrade they applied. I just had our cars 15,000 mile service at Stratstones Wooburn Green last week. Advised of the quite considerable turbo lag and was hoping that they would sort out the upgrade logged in GTR around 7th May. All I got was they checked on the computer and all systems were fine sir!
Just sent a letter off suggesting they check LR's advice about customers having problems with turbo lag and the upgarde that will sort it. Who knows maybe they will listen to me when I tell them that the Disco3 site is worth a look.
Cheers
Duncan

Anything from WDS patch 2 and above will fix a lazy turbo vane issue. This is detailed on GTR. They have access to this of course. Maybe they are being lazy not upgrading all systems.
IF and only IF the dealer uploads the software to the engine ECU will you experience the difference. The software contains new versions for many systems in the D3 and they all need uploading individually.
Insist they do the latest uploads for the whole beats.
I think this is what the 'Enhancement Program' does along with checking a few other items.

Oh and there is a seat base fix to that works a treat. Mine has been fine ever since. Again detailed in a GTR doc and states that it should be replaced with the modified parts at the customers request and not as a matter of course like some fixes.

Sinking drivers seat... or easy lowering of the drivers seat on entry and exit
They have modded the base and the adjustment lever is way way stiffer now and avoids the issue.
Available on customer complaint only and not fixed as part of regular visit.
ie ask the dealer and insist they do it as per a GTR technical document.
Relevant to Base, S and SE cloth seats only.

I was speaking with my dealer yesterday. He stated that LR were going to adopt the Microsoft approach in getting customers updated with the latest version of software. Apparantly all owners will be contacted in order that they make arangements for the software update. The idea being that a lot of problems LR have to pay dealers to fix under warranty would be fixed with a software update. So I guess this is a big money saving idea?Gavin.

Thats why my LRA chappy ALWAYS upgrades any D3 he is called out to. It saves lots of pain having the latest revs and having the thing PDI'd correctly in the first place

When I get the call for the enhancement, I'm going to get the seat done - its starting to get me down (no pun intended)Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Chatting with my dealer this morning, the enhancement programme is 5 - 6 hours per vehicle, and they have not commenced yet. He also said that they (the dealer) was still unsure about the logistics and arrangement for carrying out the enhancements.
He also agreed that my vehicle was probably up to date anyway, as it has been in for most things already.
He also said some re-wiring would be part of the enhancement.
