no power to sat nav disc player under passengers seat |
|
Hello all, this must have been covered many times but I cannot find the exact answer I am looking for. Long story short, I had the dreaded water ingress problem a while back and lost the radio, sat nav etc. I managed to sort the radio/cd player by looping out the MOST on the sat nav screen and the phone transceiver module behind the rear o/s seat. Now that the carpets and everything has dried out I am now trying to sort the sat nav but not having a lot of luck. I have power to the display screen but the screen is completely blank. I do not appear to have any power to the disc player under the passengers seat and I am only guessing but assume if this has no power it affects the screen display, correct me if I'm wrong. Can someone tell me what pin on the disc player should be the power and where does the power come from, and any other info on what the problem could be would be much appreciated.

The display should work regardless of the DVD Nav. As a minimum it should display the LR Logo.
Check display pins 1 and 11 have power with the radio on
behind glovebox:
probably ok, but you should check
fuse 53 +12v powers headunit, LCD, Nav
fuse 58 switched: powers LCD and Nav

Should you need to replace an item consider the D4 upgrade where the display replaces both parts for about £125
Guide on here. A fair bit of work

So there is a command wire that comes out the radio which goes to ground to command the display, nav and Ariel amps up. This powers a relay (that you can’t replace) and then supply’s + to the fuse and accessories.
You could monitor that wire out the radio.
Or even unplug the radio and ground the wire and see if you hear a click and see display power up
If the relay has failed, you could rig up a new external one

Sorry, took a bit longer to get back on it.
So, grounded red/blue wire from head unit, relay clicked, power at all pins and fuses, display screen displaying, maps working. Happy days!!!
I assume now I just leave the red/blue cable grounded to something and job done?

You could fit a switch to ground as a work around.
I guess the real fix is a replacement headunit

Ok, so ideally a replacement head unit but as it all works with grounding the wire, what is the downside of just grounding it permanently?
