Transmission Flush at 4-Tech

Being currently between contracts, I am trying to take care of things that I know I am going to need eventually but may not have the time to at a later point...

Having read about 4-Tech's Megaflush treatment for swapping out transmission fluid, and as I have a "history" with transmissions, I thought I'd give it a try for a bit of preventive medecine. Also went for the power steering flush as well.

I had no perceived issue with the transmission (it seemed like any other auto I've ever had), I was not expecting much of a difference.

Having now driven c. 200 miles since the flush, however, I must say the difference is profound. The gear changes seem loooaads smoother, much closer to the nearly new HSE I tried out at LRE last year than what I've been used to on my used 55-reg, and I was completely caning it, all the way down.

As for the steering, it does feel a bit more robust, but not as big a difference as the transmission. Not sure whether I should feel one anyway Laughing .

Anyway, cheers for that, Gordon. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

How many miles has your D3 got?

Mine currently has ±50,000 miles on the clock and definitely needs a double flush....

Yeah, it looked like a pretty costly bit of kit, basically like dialysis for your transmission.

I did mine myself (well with a mate who is a pro) it is very easy to drain and refill - millersoils do the fluid at a decent price. Although to do it well you need to change the filter (built into the tray) and this is about £60 ISTR.

Not sure if the 4-Tech includes that but I would think it was essential if you were to get a really good clean out.

when I did mine the bolts to the tray were going to be an Censored to get off so we decided not to do it until I got some new bolts from TLO. I now have these and enough oil to do it again so I'll do that again shortly and replace the filter.

The process we use is INTENDED to be undertaken WITHOUT the requirement to change the filter. When we do the treatment you are quite welcome to watch the process. You will then see, via the sight glasses on the machine, the fluid that is put through the transmission which, by the end of the process is coming through clean. We have treated hundreds of transmissions over the years, with 100% success and never the need to change a filter.
The OP is a genuine customer who is telling it like it is, we just let the process speak for itself! For those who don`t want to do it this way then carry on with the so-called `double flush`, at best you`ll be renewing 40% of your fluid, not the 97% we do, and in the process you`ll be mixing the new fluid with old. Megaflush does NOT ALLOW the new and old fluid to mix! THIS TREATMENT DOES GIVE A `GOOD CLEAN OUT`, OTHER THAN DISMANTLING THE TRANSMISSION THIS IS THE NEXT BEST.

As the saying goes: SIMPLES Mr. Green
