Is everyone happy with the way the oil level is displayed in the Disco 4, 3 litre. This is doing my head in
as, before I leave on a long trip, I like to ckeck my oil and water etc. However, on the 4 you have to wait until the engine has reaced operating temp and then wait 10 minutes before you get an oil level reading. By this time your engine has sezed! (or not) Any comments?

Just check mine twice a week - much better than old dipstick - and mine seems to vary not a jot if hot / left for 10+ mins / checked or stone cold / checked - just appears to be quite level sensitive (car angle) though

Mine says not available until hot plus 10mis.

RonnieH - I just posted this up in Technical section :
Finally got the hang of checking our oil using the elctronic gizzmo.
Get home, make a cup of tea, feed dogs etc. Then go back to car, get in, push start button without foot on brake. Clear the warning message by pressing OK. Navigate to service menu. Select Check Oil. Do what it tells you.
I had to put 1 litre in after 10,000 miles. It seems like the only place you can get the correct spec oil is at a LR dealer. Halfords didn't have it despite seemingly having every engine oil known to man. Disco 4 TDV6HSE
