Flexible Loadspace Protector VPLAS0015

Hi,

The LR Flexible Loadspace Protector VPLAS0015 of which I m thinking of ordering, is stated to to protect up to 'window height'.

Just wondered with it being flexible/floppy and all that, how it is secured to the sides?

Also, when row 2 seats are folded flat, will it protect to window height on the rear side doors as well?

Anyone have this Protector in their D4?

Cheers.

My understanding is that it is a heavy nylon material that uses velcro strips to hold it in place along the sides. It really depends on what your needs are for the cargo area.

Hi, I have this flexible load space protector.
The sides are secured by silicone suction cups, 2 per side on elastic straps, attaching to the side windows.
(To be honest, they are not very good, keep dropping off)
When row 2 seats are folded flat the rear door sides are not protected.
Previously had a D3 with ebony interior and never felt the need for this, however the D4 with almond interior I find it's essential if you carry anything remotely mucky.

Thanks guys.

I drop my second row seats and at times, pretty well fill the back with fishing equipment ~ sometimes muddy.

Although I have protected the floor of my current D3 with an all over piece of leatherette material, the sides which have not been protected, have a few marks which I would try not to repeat in the D4.

I've been looking for similar in anticipation (D4 on order...) as I'm usually carting around wet/muddy gear on regular basis.

I've seen, what looks like, a pretty good alternative protector on ebay and was thinking about that as an option. Might be worth a look? I'd be interested in views on these too.

eBay Item No. 110529064906

Above is the eBay item I was looking at. As I said, I don't have first hand experience of this but first impressions were favourable.

Ever seen these:

http://www.hatchbag.co.uk/

Got one in my D4 and legacy, and had one in the D3 and tha audi before that. Not the cheapest but suberb at protecting the rear of the car. Copes with 18 stone of dogs day in day out and never had a problem, wet or dry Very Happy

I have been considering one of the hatchbags with all the optional extra's.

dazadd (or any others), do you have to fix any of the velcro strips to the trim anywhere that are very noticeable when the cover is not being used?

Also, how bulky/easy to store is it when not in the car? I woud expect to use it when on longer trips when fairly laden but not at other times where I would continue to use the LR rubber mat.

Griffmaster, fyi, I was going to order one of the LR flexibile covers but when speaking to my dealer about it he said he didn't think they were very good, that the suction cups didn't secure it well and most that they had sold had been returned due to dissatisfaction, the "hatchbag" appears to be a better option.

Velcro strips are visible when it is not fitted, but to be honest it never comes out unless we need the rear seats, and at that point the cargo barrier has to be removed as well!. Doesn't weigh that much and could easily be stored in the corner of the boot or cupboard in a garage.

Another vote for Hatchbag here. We got one with the tailgate cover, and optional side panels that cover it right up to the windows in the boot, as my lab tends to jump up. It's fantastic - there's no way the dogs can make a mess of the car now!

Haven't taken it out yet, but I don't think the velcro strips will look particularly intrusive.

How quick and easy is the hatchbag to take in or out? I'm thinking of getting one buy my only concern is that it will be a pain when I need to use the 3rd row of seats.

Takes less than 2 minutes to remove. Held around the sides with heavy duty velcro, re-fitting 5 mins once you've done it a couple of times. Thumbs Up
