Wobbly Suspension / brakes
Hello Gents
After information on a prob i have with my D3, i have @100000 on the clock, had the brakes changed due to warping the discs off roading(long story)
Suspension seams to wobble under brakes and some change of direction.
Any ideas would be appreciated

Check wheel temp after wobble, if one warmer than others than you could have partially seized on brake caliper. Had same on one hub last year, braking became very bumpy on long drive back through France.

Problem (for me) was when looked at brake disk after wobble & it was glowing red in normal road use!! Have had 3 original calipers replaced due to seizing on, but rare issue overall.

Could also be steering arm rod ends. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Had a TDV6 HSE in at work a few weeks ago, it had the same issue. Found the front lower control arm rear bushes had excessive movement, i say excessive because they are a voided bush that have some movement when brand new but these were flogged out. Also the car had a slight amount of movement within the steering rack. We fixed the bushes and the car was alot better. The bushes were around $75 each (genuine LR) or Pedders do a Urathane voided bush which is about twice the price but probably worth a look. The steering rack was a bit over $1100 from memory.

Matt
Thanks for that
How hard is the bush replacement job?
If you were good with a spanner is there any things to look out for the un weary?

Ian, honestly it is a bit of a job, you need to fully remove the lower control arm and push the bush out in a press. If your pretty hand with a spanner and have the right equipment it would not be too hard to do in the home workshop. As the bushes are voided they need to go back in the way they came out so if you intended on giving it a shot, mark the bush to the control arm first.
FWIW, I had these replaced at the last service - and on my D3 seemed a bit skittish. Seemed to not only tramline, but wander within the lane on it's own. When braking, it felt like it would pull to the left - without vibrations.
Cheers,
Rob

Gents
Thanks for all the information
Found solution
1 Went to pedders warrnambool and they diagnosed both anti sway bars had + 25mm movement in bushes, bushes ordered
2 Replaced aging general grabbers with awesome conti cross contact ATs
3 Had pedders replace ASB bushes
All good, smooth as the day she got on the boat beside some tire noise but thats the price you pay for grip 8)
